I am day on of liquid and carnation and protien shakes diet. I am scheduled for surgery on April 3, 07. I knew it was going to be difficult, but I guess I didnt expect it to be this hard. I am already struggling to stay on track and I have but feeling stressed about it. Is this normal

cherri you will do just fine. Just remember the reason for the liquid diet. Not so you lose weight but to make the surgeans job easier. Its to make the liver and other organs more movable for them. It will make you surgery go so much better. and easier is better. take care and good luck. Betty

Hi Cheri I think that the liquid diet was one of the hardest things to follow. I lost 11 pounds between the liquid diet and the pre-op laxatives. Just do the best you can and your surgery will go easier. Best of luck and let us know how things are going. Who is your surgeon? Linda

well the I am doing good, the weekend was a little more difficult, but I made it through. Keeping busy and taking walks helps. I think my house is cleaner then it has ever been. Thank you so much for all your suport and encouragement. I am ready for week 2 cherri

I am new at all this but why do you have to do this before surgery? My surgeon never said anything about this.

I guess you have to do this to help shrink your liver and helps the surgeon do what he needs to do, also so that you know you can tollerate the protein drink after surgery. I am on my 4th day and I have lost 8 lbs. I am doing better then I was on the first day.

I was just touching base with you to see how things are going and to encourage you. Weekends can be tough. Your surgeon will thank you when his job is easier. That 8 pounds is really important to him. Congratulations. Linda
