I have a ? I am 9 days out and have no trouble eating. I can eat anything. Example... Nuts, Noodles, and even a slice of pizza. I did chew it very well. But I am wondering if i could have damaged anything. I don't have any pain and have had regular stools. I am trying to do better. I am not hungy most of the time and really don't eat much. I am not looking for a scolding or sympothy just alittle info of possible damage that may have been caused. I am starting to wonder if i have actually had the proceedure done or not since i haven't dumped or vomited. thanks laura

wow laura I can't believe you can eat solid food like that. You are supposed to only be on liquid or soft foods right now. The only thing is is because you have stiches on the inside too and I just would be afraid of causing trouble there. I would let myself heal more before I'd eat solid stuff. I would concentrate on getting in your liquid protein to help in the healling before all the carbs you are eating. Hopefully I helped a little. Not to lecture or anything tho. I'm really happy that you haven't dumped yet. But do give yourself time to heal first before eating all that. And not so many carbs. More protien ok? Betty

thanks, I wish I could find something that would make me sick, just once then I would actually believe that the Doc actually did the surg. But I want you to know that I went back fulls for now. I haven't lost anymore weight yet so I am hoping to get back on the band wagon with that. I know that I need to start exercising and that would help but i am just so tired. I could sleep all the time. My staples are healing very slowly. I did get them to take eveyother staple out at just 8 days out since I was unable to sleep due to pain from them pulling. I am working hard to get my protien in and have just been able to start drinking my regular protien shake now so I will be getting at least 50 grams just from that alone and that is good. So as long as I can stomache it all will be better. Let me know how much you can drink at once. I really am not sure how much I should be able to drink. I am able to drink more that 4 oz in an hour. But I am not sure if I should be able to do this... I just do not understand my limits since I do not feel any of the sensations that I probable should. Thanks for any help that you can give. Laura

Laura Hi how you doing? well as far a liquid stuff it should go through you faster than solids that is why we can drink a little more. the reason you don't feel full or feel anything is because everything needs to heal yet. there is still probably some pain meds in your stomach. so anyway to answer your question about how much I can drink. When I was 10 days out I could only drink a few ounces at a time. But I drank all day long except of course when I got into more solids a half hour before and a half hour after eating. I followed the the directions by the book and I lost 127 lbs. I feel great too. now at being 1 year and 3 months out I can drink a glass of water or chrystal light in a half hour probably. keep in touch I love to hear how your doing and answer any questions you have. We will have to get together some time since we live to close to each other. Betty

Hi Laura, you sound like you are doing very well. Don't let other's stories and scolding scare you, this surgery is successful and progressive based on how your body heals. I did the pureed thing for the first week and mush foods the second, but I had no problems with these so I took it upon myslef to advance myself to regular foods. The docs told me as long as you feel you can handle something, your fine. And if it weren't okay, you'd know! Hands down! You'd have pain, nausea, etc. and you would definatly know if you've eaten something wrong or too fast. I, myself am 5 months out and am doing great-I have lost a total of about 80lbs so far and have not thrown up or dumped or over eaten once. I have experienced the uncomfortableness when my pouch doesn't like something like stringy asparagus or grapes or greasy foods... over time you will get to be great friends with your pouch and will know RIGHT AWAY if it disagrees with something you've tried. I went through the same thing in the beginning and worrying but it's worked out so far and I can eat anything I want and have no issues to date! I hope this was a little more positivity for ya! Good Luck!
