I have a 2 hr introduction meeting in Feb, I understand the approval of insurance and the pshyc eval and the consult from the doctor. My question it how long from Feb. meeting to actual surgery. Are we talking months and if so how many?

So far what I have been told is insurance is the greatest delay. All that I have left to do is to meet with the surgeon and get insurance approval then I have been told about a month. I have also heard of insurance taking up to a year of delaying, red tape and requests for other procedures such as documented dieting first.

I am not sure what type of insurance that you have but they have 30 days to give you approval/denial. My entire process took 6 months, because I was required by my insurance to do a supervised diet with my PCP. My insurance took 2 days to get approval and I had a surgery date in 2 weeks from approval. Hope this helps. The general process will be your seminar, NUT and Psych eval, meeting with surgeon, submit to insurance....Could go very quickly if you don't have to diet! Good Luck with your journey!!! Jessica
