wausau benefits/fiserv insurance anyone??

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone here got the lap band with wausau benefits(new name fiserv) insurance. I called them today and the first lady I talked to said they don't cover lap band...because it wasn't specifically listed. I asked if she could find out if it covered and she said "I'm gonna say no it's not covered" She didn't know for absolute sure! Anyway i still wanted the required list and then talked to the consultation lady there and she asked if it said the bad was excluded and i said no. Doesn't say excluded or included. SHe said it should probably cover then if I'm approved in the end. I asked if people have had it before through them and she said yes.....soooo I'm kinda bothered by the first lady because I'm not going to go through the required to find out it isn't covered! So I left a message with a different department there (never know which number selection choice to choose when they give you 8 of them) to see if it covers. Regular gastric RNY is covered. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this insurance and how it was working with them.

I have Wausau Benifits and had nothing but problems with them. You are right about no one seemed to know any answers. I jumped through hoops for almost 2 years and finally out of frustration had my lap band out of the United States. I couldn't be happier with the outcome! My opinion is that Wausau Insurance is very difficult - not at all user friendly and certainly not supportive of obesity treatment.

Hi Marie, I have Wausau and I was approved in June 2006 for either the Lap Band or RYN. The band is so new that it's actually up to your employer if the band is covered. Wausau, as my surgeon told me, it basically their "secretary." They do all the paperwork, but the employer writes the rules. Your employer may have made the band a "direct exclusion." I would conteact your benefits people to know specifically. I went through obstacles EVERY DAY! Yes it's covered, no it's not, only RYN, etc..etc.. You'll see in my profile the struggle I went through trying to get the band! 2 months after my approval, I got tiered of waiting and changed my mind and opted for the RYN, I had surgery in September.
