My BMI is borderline and my insurance requires medical necessity. What is considered medical necessity, I have pre diabetes (borderline), I have arthritis, depression, and stress urinary incontinence, and FMS tendencies oh and family history of any and everything you can think of and alot of it is due to obesity. Is this going to be enough I am wondering. I know with out the surgery I will never beable to lose the weight I have been seeing the dietician for 4 months now and my calorie intake has been 1000 or less and my activity level has gone up, I gained almost a pound. Talk about frustrating. I lost 4 the previous month then gained when I was following even a more strict diet. I so much want to have the surgery and have a life again.

Hang in there. I felt the same way when I started looking into WLS a year ago. I have a bulging disc in my back, joint pain, acid reflux and asthma. My BMI was 41. I've dropped a few pounds so I'm at 38-39 BMI now. I also had a family history of diabetes and heart disease. I figured I had nothing to lose by checking into WLS. When I mentioned it to my doctor, he said I'd be a prime candidate. Although none of my conditions are life threatening together they are enough to justify WLS. I've been thru all the various tests and counselling and support group. It took a LONG time -- a full year -- so you have to be committed and stick it out. Bellin Hospital here in Green Bay is terrific about stepping you thru the process and giving you support. Now, my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow! Good luck. You have nothing to lose but the weight.
