Well, the frustrations starts now. I was mis-informed by my insurance company several times saying the only thing i needed to get surgery was to be 100lbs overweight, something else, and my dr. would send letter of medical neccessity. Told the same informaton by a couple different people. Now i find out today, the day after my seminar that I have to do the 6 month dieting, which i was told I didnt have to the first time. To make a long story short I pretty much have to start over in my planning. I have done the medical records, written my letter, and prepared myself. I do have a questions. Can you go to your other appointments and get those out of the way during your 6 month diet?

Hi Jessica- I am doing my nutrition apts as I wait to get the results of my psych eval. I think you can get tests done unless they are pre op. Do you need to see a nut., or have a sleep test? Those can be done ahead of time. The psych testing also. I will see the psych on sept 21 and the last nut apt is oct. 2, so after that it should go to insurance. Mine does not even require a diet, the nut counseling, or a psych test. I am just doing what my surgeon does as standard practice. I am also seeing my pcp once a month for a weight and diet follow up just in case my insurance tries something funny. So call your surgeons office and see what you can do in the meantime. Good luck! Hi Jessica Are you being required to do the 6 mos. diet by your Ins. carrier? You should fill out the info packet you got at the seminar if you havent already done so get that in to Deanna plus she is very accessible for questions. Also Dr Chua looks at every person and not everyone will have the same tests needed, but the nutritional, psyh. need to be done before you even see Dr Chua. also I think if you can document any diet program you tried even if it was unsuccesful might count depending on your insurance co. so ask them about that. Good luck and stay on them thats what I had to do and feel free to ask me anything anytime. BOB

Yes, I found out I have to do the six month dieting for my insurance. I can do all the other neccessary appointments during that time and when it is over submit everything for approval for surgery. I guess its not that big of a deal, just post pones it a couple extra months. I am going to send in my packet probably monday. I have to get some family history from my mother ( I am only 21 and don't really know much about grandparents health history) and then off it goes. After that i will be able to make my other appointments. I have a dr. appointment with my PCP on tuesday to get the neccessary information from her that Dr. Chua needs. Well, it was little depressing yesterday, but I got my head up again and pushing forward. My goal now is surgery within the first 3 months of 2007. Thanks for all your support.
