Can anyone suggest a UW Health PCP with experience with obesity??

Thanks for the suggestions on the Dean doctors. How about UW Health in Madison area? I dont know if I can see a dean doctor. Looking for a PCP with experience getting the WLS. Thanks for your help?

Hi Angie, I don't know if Dr Hartung in Sun Prairie at UW Health/Phy Plus has had much experience getting WLS paid for by ins. but I do know that he is very pro ins. paying for WLS. He got all of my daughters pre-op tests payed for by coding as obese related. My daughters ins. would have not paid for the surgery no matter what because she was flying to CA to have the VSG surgery , so we were glad to get the tests paid for. She is seeing Dr Hartung for her year follow-up and hopefully those tests will be paid for too. Hope this helps. Priscilla

I saw Dr. Eric Miller at the Beaver Dam UW Health and he recommended the surgery for me and was very easy to deal with. He is my PCP and is a very understanding and caring man. I know that he is not in the Madison area, but he was very willing to suggest this surgery for me and is willing to work with me through the process if necessary. I just started seeing Dr. Laura Zakowski. She is an internal medicine specialist at UW Health East Clinic, and she had absolutely no hesitation in referring me for surgery. I switched to her because the doctor I was seeing at Dean wouldn't refer me because I hadn't attended THEIR weight loss clinic (because I was under GHC while I was going through the doctor-surpervised diet). When I mentioned her name at the Obesity Clinic, they said she was very good.

Dr. Gould/Dr.Garren in Madison are the best in my opinion. They stayed on top of everything and helped me get fast approval. And they are incredibly talented! Let me know how it goes!
