Is ADA diet considered a supervised diet

Hello, I have just completed the nutrition and psych evaluations and am waiting to hear if I am eligible for the lap band surgery. I was wondering if any of you know if the American diabetic diet ( I have diabetes) that I have been following for over a year will be considered a medically supervised diet ? Thanks Sandi
