Just wondering if anyone else had a psych visit at this Milw bariatric programs and left very unhappy. I have heard the psychologist that preformed the visit was not only very stoic but very uncompasionate and makes her clients very uncomfortable to say the least. Sorry but I didn't catch the name. I'm afraid when I make my appointment that I might get this individual and I would like to avoid her if I could. Since I don't know her name I can't ask for someone else right away. I don't want to turn a positive experience into a negitive one before it even gets started. You can email me privately if you'd like. [email protected] Thanks Kay

I don't recall the name of the lady I had either, but when I mentioned it to my PCP, he gave me some very good advise. He told me to remember that Dr. Chua's team is one of the very best, operating as a close-knit group. He has many prospective patients and the Psych people aren't there to hold your hand and tell you that you had a terrible childhood. Their main concern is to determine in a short amount of time, your readiness for this life changing event, is your lifestyle conducive to this surgery, do you have a good support system for the future events and are you accepting of the changes about to occur. They are interested in what got you here in the first place, but they are more interested in are you sincerely able to make the necessary changes to fulfil this lifetime of change. The mental stability portion would be more from a pre-existing psych eval. Cut them some slack and give them honesty. They won't cry with you about bad experiences, but they will support you when ever you need them. Sometimes we all need a little tune up! They are there afterwards to help cope with the unforseen too. Good Luck!

Yes, we are all here for one reason or another ending up in the same boat however. If I am reading your post correctly, it sounds like you may have had the psych lady that I heard about. Your PCP is right, we don't need someone to hold are hand and tell us how bad our childhoods were, we all know what our past entails, but their is nothing wrong with showing concern or sharing a smile now and then. After all isn't that why most people are in the medical profession?? Psych's especially?? Sounds like your are a big fan of the group. Good for you. Hopefully I will be soon. I haven't met any of them yet. I plan on attending the next seminar. I am in the process of getting insurance that I hope will cover the surgery. Can anyone tell me when the next seminar is?? Support groups??

See you at the next seminar. It's at 7pm on Wednesday, July 5th. I'm pretty easy to pick out - I'm the only female 6'2" tall!
