6 days post op
Hi, I am new here, my name is Tammy. I just had the surgery 6 days ago and am starting to feel better. I have read a lot about it, and knew it was major surgery, but I just didn't expect there to be so much pain afterward.
I have been eating some pureed food and even tuna and eggs to try to get my protein since I can't have dairy. And my stomach feels great. Should I quit? I have read that so many people just say, follow the dr. directions. Should I go back to the baby food, or can I eat some other food, as long as it is small, I am chewing good and have no discomfort.
I'm about six days post-op too (my surgery was last Tuesday) and sympathize with you completely on the pain issues. For me, at first it was the gas pains, and now it's this general soreness and state of nausea. I've read profile after profile of people saying that it was less painful than they had thought it would be, and that they didn't even have to use the pain meds they had been subscribed (or that on the day they got home they felt good enough to walk around their neighborhoods 4-5 times). I was beginning to think I was the only one having a difficult time with pain!
I'm afraid I can't provide too much insight on the food thing, though. My doctor has me on a 2 week post-op liquid diet (followed by 3 weeks of pureed). My guess is that most people are just going to say that every surgeon is different and that you should follow his/her advice. I'm so new to this, though, that I can't give you my opinion one way or the other.
Other than that, good luck!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure everything will go wonderfully!!!
