Personally, I would never go to him. Several patient complaints. You might want to check in the the Washington State Medical lic. Board regarding complaints.

Topic: RE: Anyone have feed back on Dr. Hanafy in Kent?
I'm  not going to be much help, but I think he is ok. I had my original (band) surgery at Valley Medical Center, and he was working with Dr. Alperovich at their bariatric center. He did the info session I attended at Valley Medical Center, and he seemed very nice and compassionate. By the time I scheduled my consult with Dr. Alperovich, Dr. Hanafy had moved on, and not long afterwards, Valley Medical Center closed their bariatric center. My nutritionist at the time put me in contact with another woman who had gotten her band from Dr. Hanafy, and she loved him and was really disappointed when he moved on. That is all I know.

$12,000 sounds like a Mexico price...  I hope you can find someone...

I know there is a MD doing VSG as an outpatient  procedure at Stevens or Northwest hospital... so that may be a less expensive option.

Here is the thread where I first heard about Dr. Dry. My surgeon also mentioned Dr. Egrari when I asked for a referral (also mentioned in this thread), and Dr. Welk at Polyclinic in Seattle:

Even though I doubt my insurance will pay for anything, Dr. Dry's office will at least see what is approved and will try and get pre-approval. Dr. Welk's office said that they don't even bill the insurance companies. I never made a call to Dr. Egrari's office, because I am going to have my consult with Dr. Dry.

My surgeon recommended Dr. Dry in Kirkland, and I once saw a thread on these boards with about 6 people singing his praises. When I get my plastics done, I'm going to Dr. Dry.
