Topic: Been absent!
Hello all-
I have been remiss in checking in on this forum. I had my one yr. post op on 2/19. At 157 lbs., Doc said to consider myself at goal. Initial goal we set was 145, but he looked me over, and said, "Nope, you need to consider yourself having lost 100% EWL". That stumped me. My BMI is still "overweight", until I lose about 2 more lbs.
Labs have been good, and I still want to be at 145 and normal BMI. I think after my 18 mo. post op check, and with the referral for panni removal, I will be in a normal BMI. DARN THAT EXTRA SKIN!!
With hitting my Docs goal, and finding that I LOVE TO RUN! Setting all sorts of Personal Records, and getting ready for a 5K on the 10th, and a 10K in June. I've been spending quite a bit of time on the exercise forum, therefore, again, neglecting check-ins with everyone else!
Hope you are all doing well, gearing up for a spectacularly healthy Spring, and most important, are THRILLED AND HAPPY WITH YOUR OWN JOURNEY!
Hugs,
Kathy

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Topic: RE: some WOW moments
Hi again gang.
1. I am not on as much as I can - my work computer does not permit OH to load. ???
2. I go to bed very early and am up at 4 am - so weekends are my only check in time
3. My old clothing. If you can figure out how to meet up with me - come and get it. I ranged from size 12 to size 16. Elastic waist paints and big shirts. I could probably give away my whole wardrobe!
I sometimes think I can still wear them but then I put something on and it falls off. While it's fun it is also a bit upsetting not to have something to wear at 4 am! I try to arrange my clothing the night before so I am not surprised.
Today I purchased a pair of jeans from a consignment store......size 7 (jrs). Love it!!!!

Jennay,
I just wanted to point out that the flyer for the Strawberry Festival 5K is dated 6/13/2009. I also checked the website for updated 2010 information, but was not able to locate anything.
I am trying to recruit some walking companions from work, and they pointed out the date.
Do you have the updated info?
I plan to attend the 5:30pm walk on Thursday before group.
See you then!
Debbie

Hi Denise,
I was just wondering since I'm new to the DS support Group. Will there be a support meeting tomorrow, April 10th?
Thanks,
Gail

Topic: Looking for a VSG South Seattle support group or mentor
Hello out there!
I am looking for a South Seattle support group or a mentor I can chat with on a regualr basis.
I am looking to have VSG in May or June and am scared to death! Not so much about the actual surgery, but how my life will change after it. I need some new friends who can walk me thru the toughest parts and be a better influence on my life.
My stats:
5'2, 196, no co-morbids (that I am aware of!)
Looking to have it done with Dr Aceves in Mexico
Any imput is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
~Calla

MsR,
How did it go? How is the weight loss going? Do you think it was a better choice than the other weight loss surgeries? Thank you so much for writing back and letting me know. This will ease my mind a whole bunch. I hope to hear from you again soon!

Topic: RE: Hello
I have all kinds of tricare horror stories. None have to do with my surgery and that process though. Where are you having your surgery done at?
Topic: RE: New to this...
I just had my DS on Feb. 16. Dr. Carter did mine too. If you have any questions please feel free and ask. I'm in Gig Harbor and am up your way all the time.

Kristi,
Thank you so much for writing back. It sure makes me feel better knowing that I am not along :) I am extremely lucky because my husband is in the Navy and our insurance pays for the surgery. I had to go through the pathway as well. I started that back in July so I certainly deserve to have the surgery now..lol. My family is very supportive. My husband is actually taking 2 weeks leave when I have my surgery so that I can have his help with the kids. (I have 3 children) I will be having my surgery at The Matigan Army Medical Center and I have Dr. Carter. I hear good things about him. I am excited! Let me know if you have any questions about the pathway (that is what our insurance calls it) I am here for you! I hope DS is the best choice. My doctor actually reccommend DS for me. He said it has the best outcome even years down the road. We will see! I bet you are so excited to get started. When do you start the 6 month diet?
