I think that sounds very interesting.  I'm having surgery mid June and it would be wonderful to hear and see a cooking show/lessons

I just saw that Dr. David Lauter is now Medicare approved. He was my surgeon and is absolutely fantastic. Such a caring man. He has been trying to get Medicare approved for at least 5 years because he believes that everyone has the right to this life saving surgery whether they can afford it or not. Would he be a possibility for you?

I was self pay with Dr. Lauter in 2005. He was trying so hard to get Medicare approval even back then. He felt strongly about EVERY patient's right to this surgery. I am so happy to hear that he is finally able to offer it to those who can't afford it or do not have insurance. I highly recommend him and his staff. He gave me my life back!

Topic: RE: I am becoming the bionic woman

Kathy,

I had both knees replaced, one at a time, when I weighed 330 lbs. Within a month each time I was driving, walking without a cane and sleeping relatively pain free.

That was in 2002. In 2005 I had lap rny and my life is changed so much for the better. I weighed 377 lbs when I had WLS. I've since lost 170 lbs. I had lost almost 190 and I am slowly losing my regain.

I'm sure your recovery will be much quicker than mine. Physical therapy HURT. I took a pain pill before going to therapy. BUT that physical therapy is the most important part to your long term success. Suck it up, do what it takes and you will be so glad that you did. If it helps any my 2nd replacement went much better than the first. I think it helped knowing what to expect. Best wishes,

Karen C

Right now we're gauging interest in this area to be sure there would be enough people coming to make it worth Nikki and Jen coming all this way.  I'll definitely post a lot more about it when we know for sure it's going to happen with all who/what/when/ where info.

Absolutely not a problem!  The recipes would still be good for you and I'm sure the party would be lots of fun.

Sometimes I also struggle with exercise, but one DVD/VHS workout that has really worked for me in the past is the Sweating to the Oldies with Richard Simmons...sounds silly, but I actually enjoy it - and realized that it may not be a bad idea to obtain another copy - so today I did just that!  Using some birthday money, I purchased another copy for less than a dollar on Amazon.  As a graduate from Eastern, I've wondered if I'd get a discount if I wanted to workout there - an alumni thing...

Topic: RE: surgery in two weeks - and nervous but excited
Have heard great things about him...remember the ad 'you're in good hands'? Took me about two months to get everything approved after the initial consult - not because I wasn't willing to go sooner, but because the psych eval had a long wait.  Good luck!
