Topic: RE: Other Bandsters in Snohomish Area??
Hi there, Overlake Hospital has a great support group for ALL weight loss surgery types. It is a proactive group that meets twice a month at the hospital. The next meeting is sat June 26th at 10:00AM. They are held on the second Thursday 6:00PM to 8:00PM and 4th Sat.
The bariatric program manager is Christina Armstrong and she is great . Sometimes one of the surgeons drops in and we have guest speakers. At the last Thursday meeting we had a nitritionist bring samples of shakes and drinks for us to try. Last month we had a therapist and one time a plastic surgeon. People come from everywhere, Everett, Sultan Snoqualmie, Puyallup Enumclaw as well as Bellevue and Seattle. Try and visit and check us out

Is it lactose you have a problem with? What about soy milk? When you meet with your nutritionist they should have more ideas, Good luck
Topic: Protein Shakes without milk
I am having lap band surgery on the 6th of July. I have just recently figured out that I have an intolerance to milk. Does anyone one know of a good milk free protein meal replacement. The doctor wants me to have about 27 gm of protein per shake.

Hi Stephanie!
Of course I remember you, Daryl is such a little doll. I'm doing great and so are the boys. Lucas is just wrapping up 1st grade and Logan is excited about kindergarten next year.
Why the DS from the get-go? Have you considered the VSG and just adding the switch later if you really, really need it? I had a year to wait for my insurance battle and there were just so many thrilled sleevers I knew it was what I wanted to do. The data on success with just the sleeve was so good I decided not to go all the way to DS. Not that I can give you much personal experience yet - I'm just a week out.
Congrats though on whatever you decide - it's a great step. I'd lost most all my weight with the band before it slipped and sprung a leak. I wish I'd acted sooner to revise and not regained everything.

Hi,
I'm a former bandster (just revised to a sleeve last week) and I live in Mill Creek. There's a support group at Steven's sponsored by Pacific Nutrition and Wellness. There's also a really good one over at Overlake that has a nutritionist who facilitiates. Both are good.

Topic: RE: On Medicare & Need Mental Health Professional, HELP!
Yes & No... I have in essence switched, but until all T's crossed and I's dotted, I am still (in my mind) in limbo. I have my appointment with Dr. Oh, and Karen the doctors scheduler says my Medicare is fine, but until it is "a done deal," I am still gun shy.
I have requested all my records be released, and have yet to hear a whimper put of UW. I don't like burning bridges, so I have kept my feelings of frustration over the roadblock to myself. When I have "my date," and feel that I am now a patient of St. Francis WLS, I will write a letter outlining the reason I left.
THANKS for the support! This has been more emotionally draining (dealing with the social worker) than just preparing my body & mind for the changes that come with bariatric surgery! I knew there are steps to take, I just did not expect the door to be LOCKED when I got to the floor I was trying to get to! Oh, and I LOVE Valley Medical - my primary doctor is there & is the best!

Topic: RE: Back from hernia repair with tummy tuck at Madigan!
I am glad to hear that you are doing well.
Dr. Martin was my surgeon and he also assisted with my lower body lift & breast lift.
I am so satisfied with him and I hope that when I come back to Washington I can get Tricare to let me make an appointment with him. I am 2 1/2 years post-op RNY and 1 1/2 years post of from TT & LBL.
You should be feeling better in no time. But remember to use the binder. It is important and it really makes a huge difference. TT or LBL.
Take care and hope you are fully recovered soon!

Topic: RE: Hi Washington! Im one month out
Hey Kathy. My Aunt had 1 bypass & 1 revision. She LOVES the flinstones & the gummy vitamins. She said she feels like theyre candy..a sweet treat. You just have to take so many of them. Im taking the bariatric advantage along w/ liquid. I do the shakes mostly for protein. I just bought Soy milk to add for some extra protein.I also add calcium crystals.Only one scoop though otherwise I can taste it.Yuck! The Calcium chews I also take theyre like starburst $10 for 90 chews. I just found Fiber One cereal the original. It has 0g sugar & 14g fiber. Im going to try chicken salad sandwich today w/ out the bread..lol Its soooo hard for me to learn how to change all my eating habits. It seems like Im always getting food "stuck" lately from taking big bites & not chewing enough. Im not on a schedule at all.I just eat when Im hungry & stop when Im full. I just try to keep protein on hand if I leave the house. Thanks for the food ideas. Im glad you have an understanding man! Thats wonderful! It makes a world of difference!
