My daughter is considering GB and has some questions about coverage. She has been covered by First CHoice Health Network which recently was bought out by Group Health. Does anyone have experience in whether or not they provide coverage for the surgery?

Regarding Group Health, they do provide lap RNY done by their in house (and very good) surgeon(s). However, depends on how the medical coverage is written if she is covered or not. Both my husband and I have Group Health. Under his plan it is included (for now, union contract is being negotiated) and mine it is not.

I work for Group Health Cooperative and am in the works of getting my surgery approved.....GHC does have 2 surgeons that perform WLS and from what I hear, they are GREAT. HOWEVER, WLS being covered is entirely up to what plan your daughter's work has purchased. Companies can purchase what's called a "rider" and it's kind of an addition to their policy. She should check with her HR department or read up on her benefits booklet.I hear that GHC is offering it as part of their plans LESS AND LESS. Mine is covered for now. Just not sure for how long though! Take care, Sandy
