Surgical Consult
to add...
i have been told the waiting list could be as long as 6-9 months....
*nail biteing* i hope it won't take too long.
i have to have it at Madigan Medical center (army hospital)
though the doc said that the list isn't as long as it used to be due to the PTB (powers that be) have let them perform more surgeries
the only do RNY-proximal and the do laproscopic or open... Yeay!!!
Gosh - I hope you don't have to wait 6 months -- I know I'm worrying about the same thing!! But I read somewhere that it gives you time to take some pounds off and start working to goal early... its tough -- but I don't know what it is - I'm finding more motivation to try and sustain my effort now that there is an honest to goodness light at the end of the tunnel!!
You'll get there! Do they do Lap at Madigan? I'm curious... my cousin had surgery done by military and it was only open they would do.
Sarah!
yep the only surgery i was told by Dr. Carter was that they did RNY~ proximal only and either open or closed

i don't know what to do next...
lol
I was surprised to hear that the waiting list wasn't longer at Madigan - I've heard so many people say that the list is 2 years or longer! I am just beginning this journey, and was approved for an initial consult for Dr. Eggebraughten (I know I spelled that wrong lol). But the lady who I spoke with who made the appointment insisted they only did open RNY's, so I chose to call Tricare back, and they authorized me to see an off-post surgeon in Tacoma. We live in Tumwater though, so we have the option of seeing off-post doctors too. I hope you don't mind but I added the link you posted to my favorites list - just in case. If I don't like this surgeon after my initial consult this week I will probably just go back to Madigan. Good luck with your surgery, and keep us updated! I'd love to hear how things work out for you!
Hugs,
Keri M.
