Shot down by Group Health!!!

So Group Health in Seattle turned down both my initial request and my appeal for WLS. My letter was awesome - powerful, scientific, and eloquent (if I do say so myself), but obviously not enough. I can't believe they are so short-sighted! Help? Advice? So I have been working out at the Bull Stewart gym in Seattle. Both Bull and his wife Flo are so supportive of my desire to get back in control of my body and to feel better. I have gone from 315 to 296, and gone from size 26 to size 22 in 2 and 1/2 months. Of course I eat better since I feel better and have more energy because I expend more energy. Go figure! Anyway I will continue my personal training workouts and investment in myself. It would be nice to have a lap band to speed up the process. Linda

Hi Linda I am sorry to hear about your denial from GH. Did they say why it was denied? Were you requesting lap bad, which I understand in not covered by GH? Last I heard only RNY was covered. I was denied the 1st time and had to appeal. I think that GH does this to everyone 1st time around It sounds like you are making great strides to get healthy. Congratulations on the loss!! It also sounds like you have great support to help you Don't give up on GH. They can be hell to work with but get their criteria and make sure you meet all requirements. If so, fight it all the way. Best of luck to you. Kimberly
