WISH vs NWWLC
I had my appointment at the Wish Center at 5/4 and have a pre-op appointment on 6/29. I felt the same way you did, I didnt like the "assembly line" feeling and I dont like the mandatory fee you have to pay for support afterward. There are so many free support groups local and online. I have an appointment with Dr. Simonowitz at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue on Wednesday. I heard he is pretty good and got a personal referral to him. His office staff sounded nice on the phone and very willing to answer my questions. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I am sorry you had a negative experience at WISH. I had my surgery through there in January and could not be happier with all the people I encountered. The wait was sometimes longer than I would like but of all the places I checked out, I personally checked out 25 in the western united states, I found them to be the most complete. They were also the least coddling and for some people that is a problem. I wanted a straight forward process that would give me the best results. For me Wish was the best choice.

I just had my lap banding with the WISH Center on 5/6/05. At the time I didn't know that they were in bankrupcy. I still think they are a safe bet to go to. They are in chapter 11 not 7, which means that they are still operating and probably will be around for a long time. With my situation, I was a self pay and just could not afford another 3 - 4 thousand by going to NWWLC.
Good Luck

Harvey, I'm self pay too. That's why I'm nervous. If they would let me pay them on the day of surgery, it might make me feel better. I'm just very afraid of handing over $14k two weeks before surgery and them disappearing or something. Ugh.
Thanks for the info and good luck to you. I'm happy for you that you recently got banded! I'm SO looking forward to it!
