I am thinking of selecting Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunter to perform my bariatric surgery. If you have used him or knew some one who did i would like any input on him. Thank you.

Hi, Dr Hunter did my surgery (Lap proximal RNY) on Jan 3rd. I was impressed by his professionalism, caring, and knowledge. He is also cuter than his picture. His staff is great as well. Steve is very easy to work with. Kat assisted in my surgery and escorted me to radiology for my leak test the day after the surgery. If I had to do this again I'd pick Dr Hunter. I've heard many positive comments about him from my PCP, staff at St Francis & Virginia Mason (while in the hospital or having tests done) as well as the staff at Northwest Weight Management. I'm eight weeks out and have lost 32lbs. My BMI was 41.6 morbidly obese and is down to 36.4 severly obese. I'm about eight pounds from obese! Today I bought size 16 pants for the first time in years! I highly recommend him. He is a very skillfull surgeon and also is easy to talk to. A big plus in my book is that he has been doing laparoscopic surgery for over 16 years (gastric bypass for 3 yrs). I think it is worth it to talk with a few different surgeons before choosing one. Good luck, Tammy

Hello...I haven't had surgery yet, but a lady in my church did and she LOVED Dr. Hunter. She has had NOTHING but good stuff to say about him. She had the RNY surgery and has had WONDERFUL results! She really liked his bedside manner and his after care. She said that he is an OUTSTANDING doctor. Hope that helps. Good luck and God bless! ~Darcy

Dr. Hunter did my lap RNY in July 04. I have lost over 100 pounds. This is good considering my age and physical condition before surgery. My husband and I would recommend him to anyone. Although I had some complications, none were the fault of Dr. Hunter. He actually saved my life. His staff is excellent. With each complication he followed through and ordered the needed tests. Had my gallbladder out in January where he removed two stones as large as golf balls. I am doing really good. Before surgery I was told by my doctor that he could not do anything more for me. Dr. Hunter is a VERY skilled surgeon and great at lap. My BMI was 59 and he was able to do a lap.

Hi, I've been off of the boards for awhile -- life has been very busy. Dr. Hunter did my lap RNY 11/2/04. He's great; I would highly recommend him. Also, the Virginia Mason insurance coordinator, Myrene Bruce, was so efficient and thorough that my insurance approved me without my having to appeal -- I was very grateful for that! In my process of investigation I attended a seminar from a physician who only does "open" surgery, and then the seminar from Dr. Hunter. I was delighted that I had the option to have my RNY done laparoscopically, and Dr. Hunter is a master surgeon. If you're unfamiliar with Virginia Mason, please be aware that they are a top-notch, nationally-recognized facility. If you live in Oregon, you may have to travel a bit, but that is certainly worthwhile to get such a skilled surgeon as Dr. Hunter. I have much more to say, but please email me separately: [email protected]
