Pouch Pain 3 months out?
I posted this on the main board, but no responses, so am hopeful some of my "homies" will be able to help me out
Hi All, I know the standard reply to this would be to "talk to my surgeon", which I will. But, I have a question. Since Saturday I have had what I believe is pouch pain. It is constant. Its not a horrible pain, just kind of an achey sensation right below my sternum. It almost feels like a pulled muscle, but when I rub around there, it does not produce pain like a muscle would. Has anyone else experienced anything like this??? Its just a soreness, not really a pain I guess. Its wierd. I'm sure it is nothing, but just wondered if anyone had any suggestions.
Thanks for any help you can give me
Laura
HI Laura,
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I have experienced some similar feelings. My pain has not been constant; it comes and goes. It is immediately to the left of my scar (open RNY), toward the bottom of it. It feels very much like a pulled muscle. I have had problems with it twice, and my nurse thinks that I am just healing and get swollen and pulled muscles from time to time because I am so active. I am SO PARANOID about getting a hernia, but that can't be it because it is not constant. Since yours in constant, I'd get it checked out. Our bodies are going through so many changes, I'm sure these weird aches and pains are "normal," but better safe than sorry.
My 3-month appointment is tomorrow, so if I find out anything enlightening, I'll post it for you.
Hope it goes away!

Heyyyyyyy there's my surgery twin. Was wondering what had happened to you!!! Thanks for the info. My pain is getting better. I think I probably did pull a muscle cleaning house or something. Congratulations on your weight loss, you are doing simply AWESOME!!!! I am SUCH a slow loser, but I guess that is just the way I am made up. I probably do not eat as strict of a diet as most. My doc says we can have pretty much anything we want (other than sugar), so I do not count carbs, etc. I just make sure I eat protein FIRST, and have other stuff if I am still hungry. I am getting in all my fluids and vitamins. I suck at protein supplementing, I just hate the stuff. I would lose a lot faster, I'm sure, if I would get more in. I get about one drink a day, which is 30 grams. What is your protocol for protein????
Again, congrats on your loss, and take care!! Keep in touch!
