Ok. For those of you with small children, I have a question! First, my surgery has been SCHEDULED!!!!! WOOHOOO My date is the day I wanted of Dec. 28th. I wanted to get thru the holidays and go back East to visit family for Christmas then come home and do the surgery before the end of the year! Anyhow, I have a 3 yr old. I have NO family here in WA and everyone I know works. I don't know what to do for support. How do most people feel after having a lap RNY? My husband will be in the hospital with me, along with our son, since those are his days off work. After that though, he needs to work. It will be hard enough without my income while off. My son is pretty laid back. I am just concerned with areas of food and feelings, energy, things like that. Any suggestions that anyone may have are greatly appreciated. I am so excited about finally doing this. Been on my mind for 2 yrs now and now it is going to happen!!! Talk to you all soon Loretta

Hi Loretta I am kinda in the same boat...I don't have a date yet but my hubby is millitary and I have a 2 year old... I will probaly get my hubby to take her FT to daycare ....She goes PT now because I am a student...so look into that until your able OR I have also looked into getting a CNA or helper to come in for a couple hours a day while my hubby's at work....That's like 30-40 dollars a day for a week or so.... OR If you go to church...its always people there to help...I don't really have a church home so the other options work well for me...

HI! Thought about the daycare thing, but mine has never really gone to daycare, so not sure about that. More then that though, the $$$ to take him we aren't use to either, especially since I will be out of work for the time off. GREAT idea with church. I haven't talked to anyone yet at church. For some reason a little nervous still. I have told only a select few friends and neighbors, getting a feel for reactions I guess. Next will be maybe some friends from church and then pastor. I really want to tell him and have him talk to me and pray about this. I know God is with me, he wouldn't have let me get approved now after 2 years and 2 previous denials if he wasn't. Just need all my guardian angels with there arms wrapped around me. That is what I always think about! Thanks for the suggestions. Are you in the process of surgery, approved, thinking?

My husband went back to work the night he brought me home from the hospital. The next day I was was back to work. OK, so I am a SAHM. But, other than carrying the laundry up and down the stairs, they expected me to be back in the swing of things. Oh, and I had open RNY. I was tired, but I couldn't let the world fall apart. That is until I developed a stricture. I was sick as a dog. When I got dehydrated, it was a good thing they knew where the kitchen is. I had my doubts since they ate out the whole time I was in the hospital. But, they survived. I have four kids ranging from 4 to then 10. I think that with this surgery you might feel great right after surgery and then need help later on or you might need help early on and then never have any need later on. Or, you might be one of the lucky ones and never need any extra help. I hear a lot of lap people saying they feel great a few days after surgery and never have any problems. You just never know. You might do like some women do befor having a baby and make up some meals and freeze them. I bet your son would be happy with PB&J sandwiches and lots of watching tv with mom for those first day. Good luck, Hat

Thank you so much!!! I just need some words of encouragment. I want and pray this is going to be a very smooth surgery, as we all do. I am just always worried. I plan to only take a month or less off work. I know I need some time to adjust to my new eating and all the time, which will be difficult in my job, but I will figure it out!!! I really am just worried about my son. He doesn't go to daycare; my husband and I do opposite shifts. So hopefully hubby can stay in hospital until I get out and then he can go right back to work. I just appreciate the comments. Need to know how others did, which is no prediction of how I will do though. Not worried about food, I am the lucky wife with a husband that does all the cooking, I am not allowed in kitchen!!!! Anyhow, Thanks!!!!! Loretta
