My surgeon requires me to take 3500mg of Calcium Citrtare a day. I cannot swallow the pills. Because we have to take such a high dose it is very expensive to chew the twinlab wafers. I would have to eat 1/2 a bottle a day! At $10 a bottle. Any suggestions?? I found a liquid but it has a high sugar content and I would have to drink a lot. Please help I am going .

There is a good calcium - with vit D3, boron, magnesium, and vitamin c - it is Isotonix $17.95 for 2-3 mo supply at 750 mg per day - these dissolve in water and are my favorite. They also have multiples, minerals, etc.. but can be pricey for the whole package. These are sold by 'independent' distributors - I just do a search on google for Isotonix. Also, I was just looking at vitamins. com (Puritan's pride brand - thought I saw a 5000 mg, but that may have been vit c). for calcium citrate and see one that says: absorb 200 mg of calcium from 950 mg of calcium citrate. Not sure what that means - anybody??? - yup - the 5000 mg product was the vitamin c, not the calcium. dang. But check them out anyway because their prices are unbelievably good. p.s., I don't sell any of these - am just always looking for a good, reasonably priced, powder vitamin to mix with water without having to pay large prices.

I just got that isotonix citrate stuff! Haven't tried it yet, want to finish up my bariatriceating.com cinnamon chewable ones. The cinn. ones are very good, but I have to remember to chew one 5 times a day!

I use calcium citrate with a pill crusher. They are available at most pharmacies for about $7.00. I put the crushed pills in my protein and also in any food (remember food?) when I do eat. Seems to work.

Latzy- Vitalady has SUper Osteo Enhance, which, if you can't swallow the caps, can be opened into a protein shake. She also selld UpCalD, which is powder to add to drinks, shakes, etc. I take all my pills with a protein shake, which helps 'em slide down easier. Have you tried that? Good luck! Rachel

I don't know how far out you are but I chew mine. Yes, the horse tablets. Tastes like chalk but works well for me. Then I swig it down with water. ~KD in WA
