Someone please give me hope
Im 8 days out of having my surgery by Dr. Haque at Madigan. Everything went PERFECT. I had the Sleeve done. The only thing that is not going perfect is the need for FOOD! I can eat mashed foods starting Friday, but please tell me that one day I can eat steak and seafood, and chips and sandwhiches and ANYTHING! I feel so freakin HUNGRY for "normal" food!
The simple answer is yes!!! I eat seafood... in fact shrimp was one of first soft foods I ate when I was about 4or 5 weeks out (each doctor has a different food plan to reintroduce food back into your diet).
I personally did not try stea****il almost 4 plus months out.. but then I am not really a steak eater.
I can eat bread... but rarely eat a "sandwich"... I seem to get full to fast when I eat bread.
Be patient... your new pouch is healing.. and soon you will be eating "normal food".
You may want check out this site... Eggface has great recipes for any stage you are at....

Believe me... I TOTALLY remember how fustrating it was to be at the stage you are at... it will pass!! You may want to read the post " The things people wish they knew before WLS". I am not a dumper... so I can eat about anything... so I am really working on making good food choices... getting in all my protein and stopping the emotional eating cycle.

Oh you will!! I eat steak and seafood, I love salad although the raw veggies make my tummy quite noisy, I can eat and open face toasted sandwich, I can even eat a few chips ( after all the good for me stuff is in).
Right now your going to be dealing with a lot of head hunger, don't let it beat you!!

The days will come that you will get to eat pretty much what you did before. I had the VSG on 10/20/08 and now I can eat almost anything, but of course I don't. I do not eat much bread at all, which before I was a big bread eater. Sweets are far and few between but if I want a bite of a cookie, I take it. The satisfaction of knowing I have the tool of the sleeve and to make the right choices out weighs eating the wrong things. I am not a seafood eater but I eat steak, chicken, and pork with no troubles at all. I do not eat sandwiches but I eat the items that go in it! If you try something early on after surgery and it makes you feel sick or "stuck" (rememebr to chew, chew, chew) try it a few weeks later, it may be better then. Good luck with your new journey! The sleeve rocks!
Yall are so great!!!! Ive gotten a lot better, but I have taken like a bite of a cheereio since my daughters had like this chex mix thing. Ok so I did have half of an oreo today, but only HALF! Shot, back before the sleeve I would eat like a whole row of Oreo's! I dont think im going to have any problems with food. So far, I have had no sickness or nothing. Smooth sailing. I just hope im not trying to start stuff "too early."
Yikes! I will warn you to be very careful. I'm 14 days out from my revision and I cannot even imagine taking a bite of cherrios, yet alone an oreo 1/2 an oreo whatever. I want to just put out a warning because your pouch is healing and there is a reason why we are on on full liquids and mushy foods. This is my 2nd and final chance to get it right. I just want to pass on a word of caution...it's not meant to be critical or anything. Don't get started on refined sugar...you will feel much better in the end.
