Back before I had my surgery, I say discussions on this subject so I know I'm not alone in this dilemma, but I can't remember what the solution was, so here goes ......... what products have been found that best mask the "fumes," both for home use and to carry for public use????  Thanks for any advice.  Judy

I'll be watching this thread, too. Sometimes I even make myself feel ill!

I've often read about Devrom, and that it DOES help, but haven't tried it myself yet.

Is it available at a local pharmacy, or strictly online only?

Beano seems to work for me. I have some in my purse and at work for those moments.  I have also heard that Gas-x works.  It seems the more carbs we eat the  more gas we have so limiting those carbs will help too.

I don't have gas issues but I am experiencing "dragon breath"  I read on line that plain green tea or black tea will bind to the odor and make it more tolerable. They also recommended chewing peppermint or Cinnamon gum but we all know Dr. Srikanth says that's a no no.  Shhhh.... I have chewed once or twice when I couldn't stand myself anymore.

For me if I have a bunch of simple carbs ( AKA  white flour)  Like in a paistry, whoa!!  Watch out!!  So I try and limit those.  Making sure that my system is running regular helps too.  I don't think there is anything to cover up or mask the fumes ( I have heard of charcoal undies. Yikes)  Journal what you are eating and and see if something in your diet is setting it off.

Yes, there is something to improve the fumes - it is called Devrom, an internal deodorant.

I have seen posts on other message boards, but can't remember who it was. I'm still hoping someone knows of a local supplier.

Hi, Karin - I got the Devrom through Merrilou at Enjoy Health.  It does work!!  I'm sure there are other suppliers, but that's my source.  :)

Thanks for all your suggestions for "keeping the fumes down." I'll be curious to see if anyone knows where to get the Devrom...  I'll keep in mind the comments about carbs, but I haven't eaten too many of them YET.

So once the fumes have arrived (no laughing matter!), what products do you suggest to cover up the aroma?

Try to see if it's worse after certain foods. I hear many people say carbs are not their friend. My trigger are some sugar substitutes, namely the sugar alcohols (the ones that end it ITOL).

Live yogurt, as well as pro-biotic supplements are really good at keeping a healthy balance of "good bugs" in the gut. When these get out of balance or some bacteria takes over, it stinks, literally, and may require a prescription for antibiotics to kill off what ever has gotten out of control, but I'd follow it with probiotics still.

I've heard of many bathroom type sprays, but I'd rather try to control the odor by internal means first, since the sprays will just create a flower infused poo smell in the bathroom. I've heard good and bad about Devrom, and beano, and eggplant extract, as it seems to be really individual whether it will work with your system.

If you MUST find a spray, I'd look for something through osteo suppliers, that are designed to deal with that very smell, but not add a sweet fruity or flowery smell to it-ugh. M-9 (it think, or something like that) makes one.
