Looking for scales
Hi everyone!
Was wondering if anyone knows of a place where I can go to get weighed that's close by to Puyallup if not in Puyallup. My last weight was 574lbs, but I'd like to keep more of a closer eye on my weight. I don't have a scheduled appointment with my surgeon who's up in Seattle because I am once a year follow up now unless of an emergency. My PCP's scales only go up to 350lbs I think. So even if I go to see him in Tacoma I never can get my weight done there. If anyone knows of a place that would be really great. Thanks!
Marilyn

i can't say with any certainty, but i have a couple of suggestions to check into. my gyno is Dr. Song at the Women's Center near Good Sam (on 3rd?), and i think their scale there is decent. i would suggest calling there first. otherwise, i might give Dr. Srikanth's office a call (it's in Federal Way), but i'm assuming that since they deal solely with Bariatrics, their scale would work. anyway, sorry if my suggestions are dead-ends... but i hope not.

Normal bathroom scales aren't all that expensive. You could buy two of them, then stand with one foot on each, which essentially cuts your weight roughly in half on each scale. Now add up the two numbers.
Once you get down to a weight where you only need normal scales, your second one can live in a different bathroom or bedroom.

You're welcome :-)
By the way, I am sure that they would be as accurate as each scale would be anyway (i.e. they all differ a bit from each other, but we're after a trend, not an exact measurement down to the ounce). Neither scale will know if it is measuring one skinny person or half of a big one - the numbers will still add up the same.

Hi, Marilyn - You might want to check with Good Sam. I'm not quite sure who you would speak to there, but you might see if they have a patient advocate and that might be a starting point. I would think that somewhere in the hospital they would have a scale that could work for you and I would hope that they would allow you to drop by every so often to weigh yourself. Is your PCP with Group Health or Mutlicare or any of the clinics that have multiple locations? I know Group Health has a clinic in Puyallup and perhaps Multicare does, too, and maybe one of those places could be of some help. I hope you're able to find a good solution for you! Take care...

Thanks Nancy. I first started seeing a doctor in Tacoma at a Community Clinic. She has since left and I am on my 3rd doctor there now. I guess not bad for being with them for 10 yrs. I thought about changing to one closer to home but I like it there. The staff is very nice and I feel comfortable with them. I got some good ideas from all of you and will do some calling around. Thanks for your help.
