Pathway Classes with Madigan
Hi all!
I had my first Madigan appt today. It was an orientation with Dr. Haque, to familiarize us with the way Madigan works and the various surgeries they do. It was very informative I must say! Dr. haque seems very knowledgable and nice.
About how long should I anticipate the next step being...he said up to 6 months to even begin Pathways...is this accurate??
Also, there was conflicting information...he said first, do nothing, and Madigan will contact us regarding our Pathway class, but then he changed it to say, no, actually you need to call Tricare and schedule them.
So I called Tricare, and they did not see the referral he needs to put in...so I called General Surgery, and they said I do NOT call Tricare...Madigan schedules them....
HELP!!! Please!

I know that since I went through the pathways they have changes and I completed the pathway in January. They have added some classes and combined a couple of them from what I have heard. It took me 8 months to complete the pathway but I was able to call tricare and make my first appt. Sorry I wasn't of any help.
Hello,
I just went through the WLS orientation class last month. Dr. Beekly did it and he said that everyone in the class is given a number. Then when our number comes up, we will get a call from them t start the Pathway classes.
I called the Patient Reps to find out what number I was. Their number is 968-0121 and ask what number you are. The lady who called me back was really helpful and gave me an idea of when I may get a call to start the Pathways. Hope his helps!

Hi Lisa,
The lady who called me said it takes about 6 months from the time we go to the initial WLS seminar to getting a call for the Pathways. She told me my number and said they take about 30 people a month. Based on that, she said I should be getting a call in July. So that is 5 months, but close enough to 6 for me.
I am just ready to go. I know everybody before me had to go through this, but I tell you, I am like obsessed with this. I would stay up late just reading articles doing research. I am driving my hubby crazy. He is Mr. Fit army man and I'm telling him all about WLS. He has kind of gotten used to it I think. LoL
Hey, we are just about in the same waiting game boat together. Maybe we'll end up in the Pathways at the same time!

Wow...they sure have changed things in the last year and a half!! I did my pathways in late 2007 - and from my first class, the orientation, was in October, and I was having my Psych evaluation in December...surgery in Februrary.
I was originally scheuled for my first class to be in January or February...but I kept calling to see if there were openings with last minute cancellations and such - and I got all of my classes done within about three weeks. I'm not sure if you can do that now though.
Good luck with the process!

I got my referal from my PCM in November 2007. Then went to the orientation surgery class in December. Since it was close to the holidays they didn't have any of the classes with Meg for December, so I was able to get in the January class. From there I had all my classes literally within 1 week. I strongly advise not doing this...because Meg... put me on a wait for my pysch eval to slow me down in the system. I had my surgery March 7, 2008 and had plastics in November 2008. I also don't recommend having plastics so soon out but I was PCSing overseas to Europe and would not have the option of plastic surgery. Also I lost all my weight and was at my goal weight of 125 when I did have my plastics. I had a full lower body lift with breast lift. It was a combined surgery with plastics and general. Dr. Martin and Dr. Hamawy are awesome!!!!
