Auburn Sunday Strolls - March 8th at Roegner Park
I am considering taking part in this free event and was wondering if anyone would like to join me. I truly doubt that I can walk the entire trail and I walk slowly due to arthritic knees with chondromalacia patella, but I think this could be a fabulously fun group fitness activity that’s appropriate for most fitness / physical ability levels.
And...It ties in to the topic I'll be presenting at the Tuesday March 10th Auburn Support Group. Merrilou has decided to try a round robin style of meeting facilitation and I volunteered to be the first guinea pig. At the March support group, we'll be discussing "The Mind / Body Connection".
Let me know if you're interested in doing the stroll on the 8th! The Article at the bottom is from the Auburn Reporter.

March stroll set for Roegner Park on March 8
Feb 24 2009, 10:01 AM · UPDATED
Auburn has fantastic parks and trails and individuals are invited to head outside and enjoy them with family, friends and neighbors during Sunday Strolls, a free walk held at a different park or trail one Sunday each month between the hours of 1-3 p.m. This is a great way to add a physical activity into your weekend and experience the different parks and trails in the City of Auburn.
The March Sunday Stroll will be held on March 8 from 1-3 p.m. at Roegner Park, located at 601 Oravetz Road SE. Roegner Park is part of the White River trail that winds along the river to Game Farm Wilderness Park. It offers a 4.5-mile paved loop trail. Walkers may check in on the trail next to the Roegner Park parking lot.

It's not like you can suddenly say you had enough after two miles..... gotta fini**** right?
But at least we'd have each other to cry at!
I'll try to come.

I don't actually know how far I can walk...I only know that it's probably not far and it's at a slow pace. Max, who is an 11 pound Jack Russell Terrier, is greatly annoyed by his Mama's speed and distance ability. For anyone who has concerns about speed or endurance, I'd be happy to go at your pace (if I can keep up!) and we can promise to turn around when we feel the need. The entire park is 4.5 miles. There appear to be a few smaller sized loops within the trail. See http://resources.ci.auburn.wa.us/WEB/Parks/auburnparks/roegner%20park%20park%20plan%20page.pdf
We could all plan to meet 12:30 to register and then set out en masse (no pun intended but funny nonetheless) and each person would be responsible for determining their own pace / distance.
I've got to start somewhere; I can say no to treadmills, elipticals, standard aerobic classes, recumbent bikes, etc...But walking is kind of an essential part of my life at the moment and hopefully for the future! Maybe I'll even bring Max with me. He'd be so excited to meet y'all! He needs to start training for the 05/30/2009 Auburn Petpalooza whi*****ludes a Dog Trot/3K Fun Run (http://www.auburnwa.gov/government/calendarstart/community_calendar/Dog_Trot_3K_Fun_Run.asp?ViewMode=View&DateTime=633792726000000000&PageMode=View). Maybe I’ll even be able to fit into (or have it be too big?) 2XL event t-shirt that came with my registration!

Sorry, I'm out. But if someone wants to try arrange another day (i.e. extras) for a walk somewhere, I would be there if I at all possible.
Amy, I agree....... the "setting out en masse" was clever and gave me a chuckle :-)
