XPost-OT but important-cell phone solicitors
From an email my DH sent me this morning:
FYI, regarding marketing calls to cell phones starting in 2009.
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public January 1, 2009
REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS. It takes about 20 seconds.
Mdae,
Someone on another board said the same thing yesterday.
I did call the number, it is a government sponsored number and it works the same way as the previous poster mentioned above - just like the government website dedicated to the "do not call" list. I just have very limited cell phone minutes and want to do anything I can to make sure I don't get these calls or get as few of them as possible.
The post was just mentioned to disseminate information, not to cause anyone any trouble or concern. Everyone is certainly welcome to not participate if they wish. I only posted because I had heard of the home phone 'do not call list' but hadn't heard anything about cell phones before, and thought others might be in the same boat.
best,
amy
I did this a couple of years ago and the only calls I get are for surveys which is still irritating. I didn't think they would be able to call either.

It's true that you can register your cell phone, but I did find this information on the FTC's do not call website:
<
Edit: For some reason I can't copy and paste from the donotcall website, but under questions for consumers, It says that you've always been able to put your cell phone on the do not call list, but there is no data base of cell phone numbers that will be released.
So, the email warning is only partly true. You can register your cell phone number, but no worries if you don't. :-)

I didn't go to any pre-op, and this will be my first one post-op. They were recommended to me pre-op but as it worked out I just couldn't get there.
Guess I just assumed you were post-op? What surgery are you having and when? If you don't want to answer here, please PM me and let me know. Of course, if I'm being too nosy just tell me to butt out!
There are also monthly meetings in Puyallup at Vitalady's house - I'm going to the one this upcoming Wednesday the 14th. They are at 7:00. And maxs_mom, another Dr. S. patient, goes to an Auburn one sometimes too, but I dont' know the dates. Also, don't know which would actually be closest for you? Actually, maxs_mom is also planning one towards the end of the month for all Washington OH members, I can get the info for you if you want it...
Buckley is quite a drive from Federal Way! It's so nice out there though - I lived out in Enumclaw several years ago and just loved it. So beautiful, and the mountain seems so much closer....you can even see the stars better at night because there is not so much smog!
Hope to hear from you soon,
amy
