According to my MIL...

I am NOT fat any more!  I am just a tall larger woman... I had to hug her... since I know my weight has bothered her from the first day we met.

I can wear a size 16 pants... which must look pretthy good on a 53 yo 5'10" woman!

I had the best thanksgiving... I kept to my food plan... did not over eat..... I did have 4 bites of pumpkin pie (just the filling)... with no ill effects (this may not be a good thing!).  I made a roasted eggplant dressing (from Eggfaces blog)... since I LOVE dressing... and was worried about all the bread.in the regular kind .... OMG it was good... this is a recipe that I will be making often! 

Time to go to bed.. since we are going to do the early bird specials tomorrow morning....

LOL  I am so happy for you!   Next thing she will be telling you not to get too skinny.

My mom has recently started calling me several time a week to make sure I am eating.  Drives me a bit nutty but what are you going to do?  She saw me eat on Thanksgiving so hopefully she will feel better.

You are so cool going out shoppin this morn, I wanted to go but hubby ususally comes with me and its not the same without him, so I am abstaining this year.  Next year though watch out!

While It is nice that my MIL is happy with my weight loss... she also told me that before i lost weight I was "very fat".... got to love her honesty... NOT!  My huband still can't believe his mother called me very fat.  I am chocking up her honesty to the fact that she may have had a little to much to drink.

My MIL has never said anything to me about my weight, I'm sure she did to other members of the family though...  The whole family was surprised by the way I looked. they all live down in OR. and it's been 3 months since I have seen any of them.

I have a pair of size 16 long jeans you can have. I think I only wore them 2 times. Not sure why i got the long ones. Any way, my 14s are fitting nicely now. Are you able to come to the support group meeting on Tuesday?

Hi Helen,

I know you wrote this a few days ago, but I can't sleep so I've been looking around the boards and had to laugh when I came across your post.

My MIL always had an issue with my weight too.  Even though when I met her 18 years ago and  I was a size 6/8.  Even though she was bigger than me then,  I was still too big for her son (according to her, not him.  bless his heart, he has never said word one about my weight, ever.)  Now that I'm a size 26 she is beside herself.

I am determined to have the last laugh though. I am having my RNY on 12/9 and am determined to get back my life as a thin person.  She, however, has gained weight over the years too and when I slide back into my 6's and 8's she'll most likely still be at her new, large size. (Don't get me wrong, she's still not nearly as large as me)

Not that I would wish being overweight on ANYONE, and I certainly will never comment on it or hurt her feelings, but I have to admit to a small wicked pleasure in seeing her take a taste of her own medicine.

While I would not wish obesity on any one... but wouldn't it be great to bestow obesity on those people in our lives who have been mean or rude to us... but I must also take the higher road!

Hey Helen . I have an ex-S-I-L who was horrible to me when I was married to her brother & for many years after . When I was pregnant with baby #2 my thyroid quit working . I gained over 90 pounds . She told me I was a hypochondriac . Of course my thyroid didn't keep me fat , I did . But she was just hateful . Lo & behold , her thyroid went wacky & she got fat . I love kharma . We have to see each other periodically & I learned a long time ago to kill her with my kindness . Which makes her even crazier than she already is .

Back to you . It is nice that your mother-in-law is pleased with your weight loss . But , like you i wouldn't feel too happy about the comment made about you pre-op . One thing that shocked me was your age . I'm 47 & I could have sworn you were younger than me . You have done so great & in a short period of time . & you're brave , too . I can't handle the black friday shoppers . Scary .
