Hi Beetle,

So did you have the medial RNY?  Are you happy with it or do you wish you had done something else?

I went to the Dr. S's seminar last night at St. Francis and I am going to Merrilou's support group tonight at her home in Auburn.

I'd love to hear more about your personal experience with your surgery.  I have to jump through 12 months of doctor dieting.  If all goes well maybe the first part of June 2009.  Wish I could get it done now.

The information on the VSG presented by some here is simply partial at best and inaccurate at worst.  I am not trying to convince a person that ANY particular surgery is the best, I only care that decisions are made based on current medical facts.

Here are some links to primary medical research regarding the VSG.  Please review the medical literature, visit both the RNY and VSG sites to gather anecdotal evidence, talk to a qualified bariatric surgeon, and then make an informed decision that is best for you.

I was choosing between band and RNY (proximal) and decided on RNY.  For ME.  Each person has to make decision based on their habits / livestyle / medical needs.

Even knowing what I'm having, doesn't mean I don't "wonder" if I'm making the right choice.  But I fall back on my Dr's recommendations for me and MY medical history & health.

Good Luck with your journey.
