I need advise quick
I'm also a UW patient, 5 weeks post-op. Is there a reason you chose two shakes and one meal verses the one shake for breakfast and a lean cuisine for lunch and another for dinner? if most of your calories are liquid, it will be hard to stay more satisfied.
I got to chose 1 out of the 3 options.
The other thing that I did was have a snack of a hard boiled egg or a piece of string cheese, something high protein.
Also make sure your slimfast shakes are the high protein ones. The more protein, the more satisfied you'll feel.
Hi Jody,
Thanks for the tips. Yes, I can mix it up but I am finding out that really doesn’t matter. I called Judy yesterday (the dietitian), and she gave me some advise on what to snack on such as; carrots and celery, along w/ non fat yogurt and lots of sugar fee popsicles. I don’t work at the moment and have no inside hobbies besides cleaning which makes it even harder not deviate from my diet. My fiancée works 2end shift so dinner time doesn’t consist of my cooking and watching him eat what I can not in fact; when he is home I can & do stick to my freebies.
I know I have to lose # prior, it's frustrating and I get so mad at myself. But after talking w/ her I have a few more options. She is sending some more info in the mail also.
I know about the protein, I was on the Atkins for about 6 months....That was counting carbs, counting 1000 calories is much harder for me. I think it had a lot to do w/ the fact that the Atkins diets you can eat as much as you like.
So may I ask since you are 5 weeks out how you are feeling? Another question was what kind of pain meds did you have to take? I am a sissy when it comes to pain but I know bearing the pain will be WELL worth it!!!
Health and happiness,
Jennifer
I was on Atkins for about a year, lost 90#, put it back on and then some. However, having eaten like that has geared for the way I need to eat now. I think it's made it easier in some ways.
I'm doing great since surgery. Mine was a breeze. Dr. Dellinger (Chief Surgeon at UW) did my surgery and I worked with Judy Brown for 6 months prior to surgery. Isn't she wonderful?
I was on liquid oxycodone. It worked like a champ as long as I woke up every 3 hours and took my dose. I was only on it for about a week and a half once I got home.
I was on a morphine drip in the hospital.
I was actually going to do the band initially and had gone as far as meeting Dr. Wright. I really liked him. Super nice man.
Overall, my experience was very positive.
I don't have any easy answers. What I do now, however, is keep some sugar free popsicles, sugar free fruit bars, and no sugar added fudgecicles--not a perfect answer, but at least they're better than 1/2 of a cherry pie or half a chocolate cake. Truth is, I can no longer stand the SF popsicles
If someone else out there has a better answer for this, I;m sure open to it. It's the bane of my existence and I know I would have lost a lot more weight by now if I didn't do this.
