Hello All,

Okay here is my dilemma for this week...lol
I started my 1000 cal diet on the 1st, and so-far I have done great during the day BUT, at night I get up out of and pig out!!! I am so mad at myself I dont know what to do so I decided to post to see if I am not alone and if there are some trick that i could try??
I have sugar free drinks and popsicles, I thought that would be good enough for my late night snack attacks; but as it stands, I was wrong.

I know the importance of this diet and when this diet is over my surgery date will be here (yea ) !!! I have been going through the pre-op appts. Since May and tried and to prepare myself for this drastic change in my eating habits.  But for some stupid reason, call it lack of self-discipline, control, or??), I need real food!

Any advise anyone?

Are you on any kind of sleep aid?  Are you doing this after you are asleep or are you awake?  Is this something you have been doing before or is it something that just started with the diet. What are you eating during the day?  I am more than willing to try and help but I need more info.

HI Jilly,
Thanks for the post. To make a long story short, I went on the Atkins diet back in 05' and lost ~70#'s, in 6 months. Well needless to say I strayed while on vacation thinking I could get "right back on the diet". Never happened. That’s when I started to night eating. I never had prior to that time.
I could and would get up @ night and eat everything that was not nailed down! Most I remember but there are a few "scary" times that didn't. I have woke up in the middle of eating but that has not happened in a long time. So I guess I am consciencesly aware.
I am on my pre-op diet of 1000 calories. I have a slim fast for b-fast and lunch and one of those boxed meals for dinner. I have sugar-free jello, popcicles, and pickles...
I have tried all the Rx's; lunesta, sequel, ambian. None will give me a good night sleep. They are fast to put me to sleep but not keep me asleep.

Thanks again,

Jennifer

The reason I was asking about the sleep aids is there have been cases where people are getting up and eating in the middle of the night and then just finding the "evidance" in the morning.  I am sorry you are having a hard time.  If you are single I would just not have anything else in the house to eat, but what was safe for me, if you have a family at home thats harder to do.  If you are having a noxed meal try and stick to the ones like south beach that have a better carb ratio.  I too wonder if you blood sugar is starting to dip and bringing on the munchies.  Try and time when they are happening ( how long after last meal) and seeing if you can head it off with a cheese stick.  I know during my pre op time I was on the computer a lot!!  It kept me distracted from food.
The good news is, at least for me, is I have to force myself to eat now most of the time.  All the cravings have stopped.  I hope you will have the same result.

Good luck we are all here rooting for you!!

Jennifer..... I was tottaly there with you!

I choose to keep a food diary and eat 6 meals a day. This way I didnt feel likeI was depriving myself.  And I ate by a schedule everyday. Basically every 2 or 2 1/2 between all meals.

Thanks Sunny,
Would you mind telling me what you ate? My dietitian gave me this strict diet. I am seriously thinking of calling and telling her that I am not sure I can do a models diet.
1000 calories a day is sooooooooooooo hard.

While I  never got up and ate at night... I do wake up at night and have trouble getting back to sleep.  My trainer suggested that my blood sugar was dropping at night that was walking me up... so she suggested I eat a litte cheese before bedtime (1 oz) or some other good quality protein.  I tried it for the last couple of nights.. and I while I still do wake up... (to pee) ... I am able to go right back to sleep.

I agree with Sunny... 6 smaller meals may help, too... and you can get use to your new style of eating.

If it's a sweet tooth calling maybe some sugar free or fat free pudding would stick to your ribs more than popsicles.

OMG, that makes much more sense. I have some that I am going to prepare before tonight. I don't want to eat it b4 (I know me)..
Thanks for that tip.
