Hi Everyone. I am considering having DS with Dr Oh in Federal way at St Francis. I have found lots of patients of his that had rny but can anyone tell me about their experience with him having ds? I don't see him listed under the ds.com website as a surgeon  for ds, yet the info I have on him says he does perform it. Thanks all!

I've heard many stories about surgeons that advertise they do the DS, but once they get you through the door, they actually don't, and try to persuade you into getting something else. I haven't heard that specifically about Dr Oh, so maybe he/she does really perform the DS, and simply hasn't done enough to qualify at DS.com. I'd ask on the DS board if there are any of his patients there, and I'm sure they'll chime in.
Well, his web site says only 10 DS (none of them lap), and no DS's performed more than a year ago. Even if he really does do the DS, I'd be cautious of such a short track record.

Dr. Oh does do the DS, but I do not know how many he has done.  He is a skilled bariatric surgeon, but I do not know his record on the DS.

There are other options through St. Francis.  Dr. Srikanth (my surgeon) does the DS also.  He has been doing it for years, although he doesn't do as many DS surgeries as he does band and bypass.  That is not his choice, it is simply a fact that insurance is more likely to cover the band and bypass so he has more patients with those surgeries.

If you want info on Srikanth, you can click on his name below my avatar and find out more info.

Again, I know that Oh is an excellent surgeon so I am not trying to discourage you from using him, just letting you know there are more options in this area.

Take care and good luck.

Dapme, I know you found the question about this on the DS board, but I want to put the info here in case another person doing research runs across this.
Dr Oh does do the DS here, as well as Dr. Myur Srikanth, but does need to update the number on his web page.
The surgeons on Duodenalswitch.com need to have performed a certain number of DS's in order to make that list, and he is apparently still short of that number.
Good luck on your research, and if you have any DS questions that I could help with feel free to ask.

I had the DS with Dr. Oh and am very happy with the results. He has done DS for years, so I'm not sure why his site only says 10.

Dr. Oh is very conservative and expects you to comply with his program 100%. If you want a warm fuzzy kind of doctor, you won't get it with him. However, he is an excellent surgeon.

Dr. Srikanth is very experienced with DS, working with Dr. Anthone, I believe, for many years. He is also very personable. I would have had Dr. Srikanth do my surgery, but there was some confusion with my insurance and by the time things got sorted out, he was working in another office.

In any event, I am having much success with what Dr. Oh has given me. 83 pounds since May 15 is pretty awesome, IMO. No complications at all. Every comorbidity has resolved itself.

I think I'll call Dr. Oh's office and ask how many DS procedures he's done. I simply can't believe I was the 8th, 9th or 10th. LOL.

Wag more, bark less.

Thanks Mola.  People have the same opinion of Dr Oh. Great surgeon..not much of a talker. I am ok with that. I have made an appointment with his office on 03nov. Looking foward to it!
