Tough decision

I began the pre op diet two and a half months prior to seeing my surgeon and have lost 24 lbs on my own, this has put me down to 198.  My first visit with my surgeon was great he was so nice and caring.  You see I do have apnea and acid reflux but he feels that I am doing so well on my own that I should continue to do what I am doing and not have the gastric by pass surgery.  In my past diets I always loose the weight but, it doesn't stay off for more than 6mo.  I brought him the documentation of these (LA weight loss , neutra systems, ect).  I am doing great on my own and need some help on making the decision.  I told him I would let his office know next week.

It is tough! I had some of the same issues! I am very glad I had surgery and would do it again. Everyone is different ( listen to your Dr) and keep up the great work! 24lbs. is just great . Merrilou

Thank you.....I did just e-mail his office and tell him that I am waiting. This also feels like a weight off my shoulders...but, I am still dieting.

Have you considered the lapband as a way to keep the weight off? If you are doing well with the losing part maybe that would be a good way to keep it off. I've always been able to lose, just can't keep it off without help. I'm very happy with mine but I know it is not for everyone.

You've got an excellent surgeon.  I'd trust him. Lori

As of  yesturday I am holding off having the surgery and trying to loose the weight on my own.  Wish me luck !  I am still drinking the protein drink for breakfast.   I love that stuff and it's so easy to drink and drive, plus it really makes me full !
