My mom just called me...my grandpa is in the hospital (in Astoria, OR).  He has been having really bad stomach pain - a cat scan has been done, but they don't know the results yet. He's had poor health for over 30 years (back then he had an ileostomy - in which most of his small intestines were removed) - but in the last year, has gotten really bad.  He recently was taken to the doctor - at 6 feet tall, he weighed less than 100 pounds...his body was eating away at itself.  In the last month - they started physical therapy, and all sorts of stuff.  He went from literally in bed 24/7 (using a bedpan) - to being able to walk short distances with his walker, and getting stronger, to being able to walk some without his walker!!  He was improving and even the doctors were surprised that the way he was improving so quickly. This is a shock to me...I thought he was getting better and doing better.  For a while there, we thought he didn't have much time left, but the last month was so encouraging, the thoughts weren't even there anymore...so please pray for him, my gramma, my mom, aunts, and uncle and me...this is really hard on all of us. I'll see you guys in a couple of hours - even if i hear the results before then, and I decide to go down there, I'll stop by and say hi - and drop off all those clothes. ~Annie

Annie.. That is so scary!  I hope that he renewed strength during the last month will help him during his stay in the hospital.  I will keep your grandfather and your family in my prayers. Thank you for letting us know about your grandfather. Helen

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa.  It did sound like he was doing so much better.  Helen's right - maybe the strength he's gathered in the last month will help pull him through this time, too.  So, sending prayers for you and your family.  Keep us informed.

Well, things aren't lokoing so great.  He's on a venilator, and cannot breathe on his own.  He has prostate cancer (both my grandma and I just found this out today - though others have known.  They think it's spread to his stomach and possibly his lungs.  He has pnemonia, and some other issues.  Please keep praying for our family.  My aunt is flying in from Finland Tuesday night...so please pray she makes it in time too.
