Protein Suppletment Ideas - please help me...
Merrilou~
Thanks - my only problem is that it's really hard now for me to want to taste it...I haven't been able to eat anything - and barely able to drink water today - I still feel like I could start gagging at any moment. And it was over 12 hours ago that I had the stuff. My stomach is still feeling nauseated - I sure hope I don't start that nausea all the time thing now - that would suck!
I am more likely to want to taste things that are PRE-mixed and are not desserty type flavors - like chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry, or whatever else fancy - cookies and cream, etc. Just not so good! I have found I don't like sweet stuff all that much - the isopure is about as sweet as i can tolerate it...ugh!! what fun!
Ok there Annie, you need to get something in you so why don't you try some plain yogurt wizzed up with some frozen fruit and a little splenda. I did a couple slices of peach and 2 strawberrries. It comes out kinda like ice cream but a lite fruit flavor and not sugary sweet at all! You will get at least a little protein from the yogurt, the cold will help the nausea and a few fruit carbs shouldn't kill you. Try it it might help. Its pretty much what I eat every morning now although I add soy powder, I just can't face anything else.
Hi Annie,
Have you tried Jay Robb protein drinks? They are the best. They are all natural, sweetened with stevia so no artificial sweeteners but no sugar grams either and the protein has no smell or after taste. I love them. ( I used to gag on the others and thought I would rather throw up than try getting them down!)You can buy packets to sample at Super Supplements for less than $2. I like to take the chocolate , add1/4 banana, 1/2 **** and 1/2 c water or skim milk and blend. The strawberry flavored ones and vanilla can have fresh strawberries or blueberries added to them- it gives you a little fiber too. Unjury unflavored is a good one also-to add to soups, or a little cereal or diet hot chocolate. Just don't get the water to hot. Jay Robb also has great protein bars. Hope this helps a little.

I have a terrible time with the protein shakes. In fact, I had to quit Optifast a number of years ago because the shake made me gag. I am scheduled for surgery July 2 but I got a sampler pack to try out some flavors ahead of time.
So far, I think the unflavored soy is probably the best bet because I'm not a huge fan of dairy and the whey has that cheesy smell. The unflavored powders can be added to soup or any other savory dish so you don't have to do sweet stuff.
Also, I tolerate Champion Pure Whey Stack better than Nectar. It doesn't foam up when shaken like the nectar, it smells a little better and it is more tolerable sipped.
Do you like pudding? Its too creamy for me but I have heard that it is a good protein mixer.

Hey Annie, I managed to eat 55 grams of protein (without shake) yesterday so it does bet better! I've started having a glass of milk at breakfast and a cheese stick for a mid morning snack. That gets me going for the day. Also I have discovered that I like to eat seafood salad made with that fake crab. And those little lunchables have between 18-20 grams of protein in them. I can eat half of one. Just keep working on it! I just really had to start making myself eat 5-6 times a day.
