Food toleration

Ok so I'm in a weird place right now food wise.  During the food stages leading up to now, I could tolerate say like a one egg omlette with just a small amount of low fat cheese.  Now, after 2 bites I can't stomach that anymore.  I haven't tried one in like a week or so, but have had boiled egg chopped up in tuna and it's been fine.  Also, I was able to tolerate chicken pretty well since surgery as long as it went through the magic bullet or I just chewed until it was gone and now, no matter how much it's chewed or shredded I can't seem to take it. Another thing I noticed is that I feel I could eat more just a week ago than I can this week, does this mean my pouch is finally giving me the restrictions that I only thought I was feeling before? How is everyone else doing on this subject?

Hey Shelly are you still taking your omeprazole?  For some reason if I haven't taken mine for a day or 2 I start to get a real problem.  The only meat I can eat right now is shrimp, eggs a few bites, chicken and tuna... ohh the pain!!!  Cheese is my friend. As for the rest sounds like your nerves are starting to heal so you can really feel that restriction. For some reason hiccups are the full signal for me. I eat half a portion and wait 5 min or so and see how I am feeling. If I get hiccups I know I am done. I rarely can eat more that 1/4 c.

Hi Shelly, What your feeling is normal, I am 8 years out and there are still days that I can't eat a certain food that I just ate 4 days ago. Tuna was one of em , I brought that up and it was foam all the way, then I had problems with cucumbers, then tomatos, then chicken, turkey. eggs I guess I went through it all. one day I could eat scramble eggs, then 2 days later I couldn't so its normal, keep eating your small portions don't go bigger yet, if it gets worst call your doctor, or your NUT. eat every 2 hours Hugs Terri

Thanks girl, so far it hasn't been too much of an issue, I can usually find something else to eat,  but yeah if I get worse of course I will call in.

Its an acid blocker to keep that acid production down in your stomach.  The Dr. put me on it for 90 days post op.  Its for ulcer prevention.

Ah ok, I didn't suffer from heartburn ever unless I ate something too close to bedtime and even then it depended on what I had eaten.

Shelley , I wasn't put on an acid reducer post-op & haven't needed one . I took Prevacid pre-op because I had an ulcer . Like someone else said sometimes our pouches can't decide what it will tolerate . I can pretty much eat anything , unless it's not too bready or oily . I , too , get weird hiccups when full . They are a little different from regular hiccups . It's a new world , eh ? lol .
