Hello All,

I am so close to my VSG, I getting really excited. On Monday I have my Psych consult with Dr. Pryor in Poulsbo. Has anyone been to him before? What can I expect from the consult? I think I am more nervous about this darn consult that I have been about any other aspect of this journey.

I has PPD after my second child was born, and diagnosed with GAD and mild OCD after my fourth child. The PPD resolved after a few months and I came off the Paxil with my Dr's okay and have not had any problems with depression with subsequent births.

The OCD is pretty mild. Mild enough that the side effects of the meds I tried were way worse that dealing with the OCD.  The GAD ~ I do take Valium about 3 times a month for the worst of the panic attacks.

I am so nervous that those things will affect my qualifying.  Everything else has gone so very smoothly, I have followed all the steps, I have made some great changes in my life and I am soooo excited to be almost to my VSG!

Anyone have any calming, been there done that advice???

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom. :-)

Hi there. I have been diganosed with more then you...lol I see a therapist one a month or twice a month. I have my consult on monday, and was told everything was done. I might not have to see a psychaitrist. I will do the test given by a social worker and they will get records from my therapists office.

Hi, Allie - Glad to hear that things are moving along for you.  I understand your anxiety about the psych eval.  I can only relate my experience - I was nervous, too, but it ended up being nothing to be concerned about.  I met with the psychologist for a short time and then spent most of the appointment completing "fill in the blank" type forms.  I think one was a personality profile and the other was regarding food issues.  I felt like they really just wanted to know that I was capable of making the decision to have WLS...  Just try to relax and be yourself!  I'm sure it will all work out!  Take care...

well for anyone to qualify for surgery  they have to be  "no pyschiatric hospitalization" for one year and stable with their mental health provider's notes.

Thanks for all your replies. It is so nice to have found other people going through the same things. Well, since I have never been hospitalized, and have not I been under the care of a mental health professional in about 5 years, it sounds like I am okay on those points. I was supposed to have the evaluation at Bremerton also, but a bunch of the people in that department are preparing to deploy and they are too short handed right now so I was referred out at the last minute. Thanks again for your replies. Allie
