Help! I need a referral for CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

Greetings!  I live in Minnesota, but I am working on a long term IT Contract in the Seattle area.  I am going to have WLS this fall at a bariatric center in Minnesota (Park Nicollet).  As part of preparing for my WLS, I had a recommendation made to me that I should try to see a therapist for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy regarding my food choices.  Does anyone know of a good therapist who does this for WLS patients?  Please reply in a post to this thread if you do and who you are recommending.  Thanks in advance to everyone on this Washington State Board for your help!

Yikes...good question.  I don't know anyone of the top of my head, but I work with a counselor (several, in fact) and I will ask around.  Not positive that I can come back with something, but I will try.

No, unfortunately I didn't make it. I was about a quarter of the way there, and it was raining so hard I just decided to turn around and come back home. I do plan on joining everyone on the 8th though. Will you be there?

I won't; unfortunately I have class on Tuesday nights this quarter.  Syn might be there though.

Wow - that does sound interesting...  Unfortunately, I do not know of anyone, but I would recommend you call Vitalady (Michelle Curran).  She and her husband both had WLS in the mid 90's and their own business grew from that.  She is located in Puyallup, but is very involved in the WLS community and very likely would be able to direct you.  Her website is www.vitalady.com and her phone number is 253-848-5118.  She is a great source for vitamins, supplements and protein powders.  I wish you all the best as you move along on this journey to a healthier you!!  Hope you're enjoying our beautiful Pacific NW!

Alan, You should contact St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way - it is just south of Seattle. They are a Bariatic Surgery Center of Excellence. I would think they would be able to advise you who they work with! Good luck. I spoke with the counselor I had mentioned, but she didn't know anyone of the top of her head...is this a time sensitive thing? Tula
