looking for group health member for help

I tried to file about 5 years ago, was denied before I even got home. This time I have waited 2 weeks, called my DR. and the RN resent the fax for me. Missy RN said when she called they had not recieved it, that is why she sent a second time. I know they are going to say no again. I am borderline dieabetic, have asthma, and chonic broncitose(bad speller sorry) I also have a slightly damaged lung,wih depression on top of that. Have been Obese all my life, but have lost and gained it all back with in a year many times. Tried LA weight loss $2500 later and gained it back. Weigh****chers made me feel quilty if I did not lose a pound a week. Help me please with info to fight group health of washington. Wanda

Wanda sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with everything.  From what I have heard is that they only have 1 dr that does wls.  I had group health and changed medical because of the long process it takes.  Hopefully you will get answeres soon.  Keep your chin up we are here for you.

Thank you,  But my company only handle group health for its managers, and my secondary is also group health with the state. I know this will work some how, I have done a lot of research and have found a few proceedures they have already done on people. I will have to fight harder and state a good case. thanxs again Wanda

Hi, just read your post.  I'm just getting started with trying to find a way Group Health will cover WLS.  Just a few days ago, I got my denial letter.  So now I have to start the appeal portion.  Not sure what I need to get started, but it sounds like a letter from my Dr or Dr's is the thing to do.  I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for all of us in this limbo.  I'm not sure what ins policy you have with Group Health, but mine does not have a special "binder" for anything to do with weight loss even if it is life threatning.  Somehow, this just isn't right........Good luck.

I have not been denied yet, any day now I am sure. Why a letter from your doctor even thou she is the one that asked for the referrel. I have double coverage and the office told me it is in my plan. I have gathered some info on group health members that have had it done for my defence letter. Keep in touch and we will work togather. My clinic is south tacoma.
