I have been on a 40g fat diet since Dec. and for 3 weeks it was 10g, I had my ultra sound and I still have a fatty liver.  Help .......What can I do to shrink it? I meet with my surgeon on the 10th and don't want the liver postpone any surgery date I may get.

I have heard that those who do a liquid diet per instructions of their surgeon are doing it to shrink their liver.  So, a liquid diet might be able to get you where you need to be.

Hi, Cindy - I agree with Shelley that a liquid diet may help with the liver.  At least that's why I was told we had to do a 2 week liquid diet pre-op!  I've heard some docs that don't worry too much about a fatty liver - are the Madigan docs picky about that?  Maybe you when you meet the surgeon you could discuss going on a 2 week clear liquid diet pre-op to help shrink that ol' liver...  Sure don't want you to have things scheduled any later than you have to!!  Hang in there!

It looks like you meet with your surgeon today, so my advice is a little late. My surgeon required a super low carb high protein diet for 30 days prior to surgery to shrink the liver. His patients are not allowed more than 30 carbs a day and have to have 80 grams of protein a day during the pre-op diet. This helped alot!
