Surgery postponed...

Ok...well got a call from Madigan today...surgery is postponed until February 27th.  It's just one week, but it messes up ALL my plans.  Oh well...guess it could be worse...

Thanks...well my husband was able to move his leave around...no problems there. The big plan mess up is Easter.  We had been invited to go visit my husband's grandparents for easter.  My husband wouldnt' be able to get leave because of taking so much time off for my surgery...and well, we decided since I would be four weeks out that I should take the boys (they're 3 & 5) on Amtrak down to their house (the Bay area), so about 21-24 hours on a train.  But now, I will be just three weeks out...I was hesitant about the four weeks out, but thought it MIGHT be ok.  Not so much with only being three weeks out.  I won't even be able to lift anything at that point!   My husband tells me that he thinks it might work anyway...Ummm...ok...so I go down there, I can't lift anything, but I have to chase my kids around because grandma and grandpa are in their 70's.  Might be kinda impossible for me.  I get worn out HERE with them...ugh!!

How far in advance do you have to by the Amtrack tickets?  If you can wait and see how you feel, that might work.  3 weeks out you will just get started on the mushy foods and such, wow, yea, might be a problem.  Can you go visit them in the Summer?  By then you will be healed, eating normal and feeling good. I am also from the Bay Area orignally!

Well, we actually already bought them...they are refundable - either full price goes toward purchase of new tickets or cash back less 10%.   I'm hoping I will be able to put it off until May or so. How did you get up here?  Are you guys military? If so, are you at McChord or Ft. Lewis?  We're at McChord.

I am glad your tickets can be refundable.  Maybe you could give it a week and see how you feel?  Just don't overdo it!

Thanks Shelley...yeah...it's a bummer.  So I had some junk last night - and it made me SO SICK this morning.  Yuck!  Guess my body isn't used to it anymore.  Oh well, guess that could be a good thing.

Oh no, unfortunalty I know how you feel.  Did they give you a reason why??  When I see Sebesta on wed do you want me to kick his butt?? (I will verbally only though)  Thats the thing about plans, the military likes to mess em up.  I am soo sorry this happened to you too though.  It sucks rocks Maybe someone will cancel between now and then and you can get in in time for your trip.

Hey Jill,  Yeah, they said that Dr. Sebesta has to go out of town that week.  I think I probably have to reschedule my appt with the anesthesiologist, but I didn't think about that when they called.  Since I remember them saying that it needed to be within a week of the surgery date. oh well.
