I have a date!!!!

I called Tricare this morning just to see by chance if anyone had cancelled and I got an appointment for today!  I called at 10am and was seen at 2:15.  Only thing, it's not with Dr Rush now, it's with Dr Eggebrotten.  My husband and I talked in great length with him today and I felt very comfortable with him.  We asked a lot of questions and he went into detail about the pros and cons of both open and lap rny and thinks doing open will be no problem with me. So....my new birthday is Feb 15h!!  I have so many emotions going on right now, but mostly good.  I'm sure we all go through the same type of things as we get dates and they grow closer. So other preops (for Madigan), keep calling Tricare to see if your surgeon has a cancellation, you just never know when they might have an appointment free in the clinic

Thanks so much hun, I honestly have you to thank for making that call.  You were right, I was proactive up to that point, why stop now right?  So I thank you my friend for telling me to do it.  So you know when it's your turn, you do the same thing.  I can't wait until we see your date up here as well!

I knew it was going to happen for you!! I had already made up my mind to call Tricare to set my appt with the surgeon. I sometimes don't think Meg knows what she is talking about! (Shhhh, I don't want her to know I said that......yikes!!! She might make me wait 6 months to see a surgeon).

Oh girl I am soooo HAPPY for you!! I am happy for me too cause we can be going through a lot of this togther!! Misery loves company!!! You will be just 11 days after me!! I will come to the hosp and sympathise with you even if you want. LOL. Wow I wonder if we should pm annie and let her know she doesn't have to wait so long. I think I will. Oh you will have to type me later the first couple of nights after I got my date I couldn't sleep. "See" you later.

LOL I already told my husband I am going to the hospital to visit you on your date, he has duty that day/night so once you have your time set, I will pop in long enough to check on you then take off so you can get what little sleep/rest that they will allow you before making you walk or the vampires come to get more blood. And yes Annie, keep calling back and seeing if your doc (assuming you want to keep him) has an earlier appointment.  You have to call the tricare line, the surgery clinic wont do anything but tell you to call tricare and tricare will tell you that since it was made in the clinic they have to do it.  Just tell tricare that surgery clinic told you to call them to make a quicker appointment if they have one.

Thanks everyone, it's a great valentines present and with having my grown son here for a few months really helps having an extra driver and helper while hubby has to work his 24 hour shifts every 4th day.  And it's still the beginning of the year for the most part, so it will be fun to chart the progress as the year goes by

That's GREAT Shelley!  I am happy for you.  I am not sure if I want to switch surgeons at this point...I have heard so much good about Dr. Rush.   I could have gone with Dr. Beekley and gotten in 10 days earlier.  But I think I'll be ok with my current date.  I will keep calling back to see if anything opens up with Dr. rush earlier.   I will have to come visit both of you when you have your surgeries!
