Vertical Gastric Sleeve
Great question...sorry, I should have answered it before. I was told that I was the first in the state of WA to have mine. They are wanting to promote that where I had it but before I stand behind it, I want to ensure that it is the truth.
Now, the important part...am I glad I had the VSG? You betcha. I look better, feel better and have tons more energy.
I know Dr Oh does them, has for a few years. I know someone done last spring at UW. The others are out of state.
Will you be going back for part 2, the DS portion?
There is a DS/VSG group that meets in Tukwila, first SAt, I think.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
My friend Amy was just "sleeved" by Dr. Landerholm and Dr. Landers the Monday before Christmas. She's doing great so far - pre-op 286/surgery 273/now 261.
She lives in Bellevue and works in Seattle, if you wanted to connect with her, just email me via my profile and I'll hook you up!
I love my lapband, but the Sleeve sounds to me like the dream surgery! No malabsorption/messing with intestines, and way less hunger due to the stomach removal...I'm kinda jealous :)

Hey Jackie! I had my sleeve on the 17th of December and I'm loving it! This is the first time in my life Ihave to remember to eat!
I love it, Dr. Landerholm & Landers, did an awesome job!
I gained 13 pounds in the hospital. But that was all water and it came off pretty quick. I'm now down 13 pounds from the day I had surgerey.

Did your insurance cover this surgery, or was it paid out of pocket? Im interested in it, as the likelihood of having any gastricbypass surgery reversed is slim to none. I have found out neither my insurance or husbands will cover this, and at this time I cant afford it out of pocket, unless I go to Mexico..... So Im researching everything.
Thanks,
Kathy
Hi Amy. I am glad to hear that your VSG went really well. You must of been one of the first 4 people to have had the surgery. I too am so excited I received it. I know for myself, I would have not done well with the band or the RNY so the VSG was my best choice. Don't you just love Dr. Landers? Is he your primary? I really like his laid back personality but yet I know he knows his stuff. So, tell me how you are doing? What phase are you in? Feel free to e-mail me anytime.
If you do not mind, I am going to send a "add you as a friend" invite. That way we can chat anytime.
Have a great New Years.
Jackie
