JANUARY 5TH
January 5th is my big day! My surgery will be at Valley, I am anxious but very excited.
We don't have any family in Washington and my father was supposed to fly up and help but had to cancel. And because we have two two year olds my husband won't be able to be there for me. I am anxious about doing this alone. However I was told that I won't be staying overnight at the hospital (Lapband) so at least it won't be for long.
Anyone with any recommendations for me?
Thank you all for all your support in getting to this point!
Congratulations, I'm so jealous!
Plan ahead- get all your pain meds the Dr. prescribes before and check that you can still take any others you are on. Get your supplies, protein, juice, broth, jello- what ever the Doc said you can have since you won't want to rush off to the store too soon after. Do all your laundry ahead and change the bed so it's fresh to come home to climb into. With two little ones anything you can have to keep them busy- rent lots of videos! These are a few things I've heard suggested at my support group- I'm not even scheduled yet

Too bad your dad won't be able to make it but you'll do fine! Those nurses will have you up and moving in no time (even when the meds tell you its sleepy time they'll be there insisting that, no, its walky time, lol).
Recommendations? Enjoy your nap? Really , it wasn't too bad. See if your husband or you can pick up your meds BEFORE you're on your way home after surgery. Also see if your doc allows you to take Gas-X for the gas pains when they start. I guess the last one I have is to be sure you've got liquid tylenol at home, too. And a heating pad.
Good luck!
Lori
Thank you all!
I am feeling a bit stressed because it looks like (and we tried desperately to find a babysitter but no luck), my husband will literally drop me off at the hospital at 5:30am and then come back and pick me up when the doctor says I can go home. We are both bummed that he can't be there with me when I wake from the surgery...
I know I will be fine it's just not the preffered way...
