2days till surgery

hay! everyone its two more days until "S" day WOW!! I can hardly believe it after all that has happened. my head is spinning I've started my liquid diet and feel pretty good ! I"m getting a little nervous and so is my husband and my sons they are very supportive but I can tell they are scared for me. My Mother was against this so I didn't tell her I got approved until day before yesterday I know Just call me CHICKEN!! but she knows now and she hasn't said anything negative YET!!she even wants to be there for me at the hospital my sisters are very supportive and so are my friends my sister all (I have 4) want to be there too but I don't want them there is that wrong?? so I know Ill be just fine !!! I told them that I would be OK with the nurses and all the med staff and that I would need more help at home !!if they would wait until I got home and settled I would be better any comments??? Cynthia, wow...two days!!! No judment call on the chicken thing because that is the timeline I plan to follow too. Will tell my parents the weekend before surgery. I don't think you are wrong to not want everybody there at the hospital. This will be a time when you are first all druggy and groggy and then you will be working hard at walking the halls, following orders about getting your fluids down, always being checked and having that swallow test done....very busy. When you do have some down time you will need to be resting and healing. And for sure, you can let your family help at home when you won't want to be doing any lifting. Plus they can take turns walking with you to be there in case you get dizzy from your pain meds and it will make them feel needed and that they are helping. (even if you really feel fine!) I'm so excited for you!!! Molly...FOUR WEEKS for me!

molly thanks !! about the chicken thing!! im home now and fell pretty good !! IM a loser!! the only people that were there with me was my husband and my 8yr. old son I had 1sister come up for a visit but I think I slept most of the time she wa visiting. another friend from spokane came on her lunch time! Cynthia, Only one day til your journey to the losers side. I only had 2 members of my family with me the day of my surgery. I have a very large family. I was in the hospital for awhlle and I found having one of my daughters or a family member with me most of the time was real comforting. At times, the nurses couldn't get right to me so my family helped. (Turning the fan off and on, brushing my hair). Yes they sure are a blessing when you come home. Sending prayers your way for a safe and speedy recovery.

Keep your eyes straight forward- don't look back kiddo! Keep us posted as you will be glad when you are finally home from the hosptial. You feel much like a 'pin cushion' being poked for this or that every other hour- I used LESS Moraphine when I didn't need it- it counter acts the gas movement- once you can walk the halls GO GO GO and no matter how bad it hurts ( its the gas not the pain of surgery ) pat your tummy at the intestines as you are walking ot help move it along ( like burping a baby only pat to help the intestines move the internal air through- it is SUCH a relief once its moving ) I am so glad to hear that your family is fully supporting your decision - they will be so blessed in a very short time when all of you is ALL the way back in forum! Hi Cynthia, I pray that you have a speedy recovery and an uneventful recovery. I agree get up and walk as soon as you can. The gas pain was the worse for me. I had no pain because of the pain meds but the gas pain went down not up in my shoulders and i had the hardest time getting it moving. I walked and walked and walked. When I got home in 2 days i had my husband to go and get me some gas x and i chewed 2 of those and i felt so much better and my stomach did not feel bloated any more. It does work. You will do fine, Stay positive. Kim L.
