Fred Meyer Gelatin?
Forgive me for bugging you folks yet again with another question. Someone on the board posted that Fred Meyer sells a sugar-free gelatin that does not contain aspartame. Can't find that original post so I don't remember who it was. The local Fred Meyers here don't have it and say they can't check into availability without a product name. So if anybody there has purchased this could you let me know the brand name? I've checked health food stores here too and nobody has a jello-like produt that doesn't have aspartame in it. That stuff gives me a very quick migraine and just isn't worth trying in my diet...pre-op or post-op.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Molly
I'm not sure it exists in powder form. I have a severe migraine reaction to aspartame, too, so sugar free jello is out. I HAVE seen the ready-made gels with Splenda, did you check with the ready made (non-refrigerated) puddings to see? I just don't like the taste of Splenda in jello, but like it in the jello ready-made sugar free puddings. Go figure. (Jell-O brand ready made gelatin has aspartame)
You see...this is why I come here to ask questions! Great answers!!! Thank you Jerri, I never would have thought to look at the ready-made puddings. At least with those I'd be able to mix in some protien powder.
Tried yet another local health-food store and they could only recommend Knox unflavored. I may have to go that route. Don't know if I will or won't like the taste of Splenda in jello because I've never tried making it that way. Thank you so much for your help. Isn't it amazing how hard it is to get away from aspartame in diet products? Thank heavens there are more and more things with Splenda on the market now.
Molly
Okay, I found it! It wasn't at Fred Meyers, but rather Super Wal-Mart. The brand is Hunt's, and it's ready-made (non-refrigerated) with Splenda. It was with the other non-refrigerated puddings. It has 2 flavors in a 4-pack (orange and strawberry) for 97 cents. I bought some to try because I'll be needing something, most likely, after surgery. Keep your fingers crossed I will actually like it.
I'm so glad more things are being made with Splenda. Now if Yoplait would start making their light yogurts with splenda instead of aspartame, we might get somewhere. (They already make their "custard style" light with splenda, how hard can it be to switch the others?!)
Good luck!
Jerri
Jerri, thank you so much for letting me know where to get this. We have two Super Wal-marts in Spokane so one of them is bound to have it. Can't wait to try it!!! I really appreciate the help and agree with you wholeheartedly about the yogurt. Maybe we should e-mail the yogurt companies. I hate yogurt but can tolerate the Whips but can't have it post-op because of all that sugar.

Jerri, you are great! Thank you so much for the detailed info. The Wal-Marts here do have it so I stocked up. Got four packages of the jello and one each of the puddings. Looks like all I have to do is puree a little more meat and freeze and I will be totally set for post-op. Assembled all the specialty products I've bought and think that considering the tiny amounts we eat after surgery there is waaaaay too much.
Haven't tried it yet but also 'treated' myself to the Splenda Flavor Blends for coffee in the french vanilla flavor. It will probably be at least two months or more before I have the guts to try coffee post-op but this will be a nice taste treat since I am trying to give up powdered creamers too. Why are the yummiest things in life so bad for our health?
