I thank the Lord above for all of His comfort and encouragement through these past few days- I am home PTL! It's amazing how little pain there really is from the surgery itself - yet the time in the hospital was nothing like what I had expected. First off the OUTSTANDING staff at Eastside Group Health Hospital in Redmond WA went far and beyond any compliments I can give to them- I plan on writing a letter to the Hospital Board, Even though I got VERY little sleep ( go figure ) I can totally recommend and agree with the others who have said that the walking the halls while you are in there in between things really worked for me- also as the gas got fuller and I got fuller with fluids patting my tummy ( like patting a baby to burp ) helped me get the gas moving quicker- walk and pat your intestines...once you start getting it moving things slowly get better. I slept last night in the recliner and besides a few trips to the bathroom GLORY I SLEPT! :D :D What sorts of things did ya'll try for snack time and meals?:idea I know that I tolerate the cream of wheat, creamed peas, carb free yogurt thus far- in a bit I am going to atttempt to try to puree chix meat juice and cottage cheese. When did ya'll try tomatoe soup? I have to admit I am hungry bu tnot that craving or starving feeling, feels good when I take the baby spoonfuls of yogurt or cream of wheat. Good to be home - check in a couple days ( unless something comes 'up' and I will then be back sooner. BRENDA Woodinville WA

Hi Brends , I'm glad things are going so well for you . I am still pre-op . Be careful with tomato soup , unless it's homemade . My nutritionist said you can dump with it , as it has a lot of sugar . Kathy

Welcome home Brenda! Congrats on your successful surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery phase as well. I am 11 days post op and heading back to work tomorrow (feeling great). I have all my protein from shakes right now, but have had no food intolerance (so far) from cottage cheese, purred soups, puddings...haven't been brave enough to try the chili, I might wait a bit for that one! Did they send you home from the hospital with a list of foods for the various phases of the recovery? If not, here's a link to bariatricbytes which has a sample of ideas for you. Well, congrats on your successful WLS. I bet it DOES feel wonderful to be home. I am having my lapband done this Thursday. Goodness, I didn't realize that RNY people could eat (i mean puree) so soon after surgery. I will be on liquids for several weeks. Already been on them for 6 days. Good Luck with everything!

Welcome "home" Brenda! Glad to hear things went well with you. I did come down for my appt on Friday but didn't want to disturb you so I didn't stop by. I hear you had lots of visitors! I believe it was Connie who stopped by and relayed that information. Anyhoo... Congrats on being a loser! Lori
