Today seems like moutains moved... Dr. Lauters office called to inform me that they received the insurance approval and then went on to set my wls date. I am very happy that my patience although tested for over a year of pre surgery proceedures has finally unfolded into a blessing. I feel like a load has been removed off my shoulder. It is like a large tax refund at the end of a hard year of work! I think I would be more excited if I was not is such pain in my lower back and hip. I called my family and told them the good news. And now I share my news here on the boards I quietly read everyday. Thank you for taking the time to read of my joyful news! Hugs, Aunt Pam

I don't know you did it. I about went nuts waiting for 3-1/2 months. A year would have really done me in. My surgery date is July 6th just 5 days away. I am really nervous but happy it is finally here. Good luck and keep us posted. Marcia

Congrats on your date, too, Marcia! Just 4 days now! Both you and Aunt Pam are causing me to reflect back.... these are good thoughts and I am soooo glad to have been given this second chance. I have no doubt that both of you will make and take all that you can from this tool, tell food who is boss, move your bodies and enjoy it! That's something I didn't do at all preop. I dreaded moving at all. I just read - and have read this before - that for every pound that we lose we lose 4 pound of stress on our joints - especially those knees. 10 lbs lost, 40 lbs of stress relief! Soo... losing 1 pound reduces the load each knee bears more than 4,800 for every mile walked! And a 10 lb loss will save your knees from bearing 24 tons over that mile! (Woman's Health Nov/Dec 2005) No wonder we hate moving when we have all that weight on and no wonder we feel great when it's off! Those miles just get easier and easier! Anyway - congrats on your date - you will be in my prayers! Blessings! Nancy

CONGRATS! That was a looong journey to getting a date! I'm sure it is all in perfect time, but it's hard waiting! Really hard. I will pray for you on your day! Keep posting! Keep building towards all the goodness this surgery can do for you! Just like DrW insists - move now, keep moving, cement activity into your lifestyle - it's a big part of getting to and stay at goal! I am soooooo happy for you. You have been at this a long time! Blessings and prayers! Nancy
