Looking For Support Groups
Hi All,
I'm pre-surgery and am looking for surgery support groups in the greater Seattle area. I am battling food issues like compulsive overeating and bingeing that I would like to get a better handle on before surgery (I have no date yet -- am still meeting insurance requirements for a few more months).
I am seeing a psychologist and as part of the treatment he recommended I find some support groups. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm willing to drive.
Thanks!
Colleen
Here is a list of the OH support groups around Washington. Unfortunately, I don't know of any in particular down your way since I live way up by Bellingham. But hopefully this helps!

Let me know if you need more information! Hope to see you there. There are several Weber patients that attend that group ... me included!
Good on you for taking on your eating issues NOW! Lots of people say that I must be "fine" now that my weight is gone. It's actually shocking how many people will verbalize that or a similar thought. It's clear to me that they think the WEIGHT is the issue. It's not! It's our relationship and issues with food. It's our minds and hearts. I feel as if I am doing the harder work NOW. Watching the scale go down is fun and motivating. Seeing the numbers stay the same... well not so inspiring and I find that my food issues are popping up all over the place! THIS IS THE HARD PART - this is the WORK! You are getting a leg up on the work, Colleen, GOOD ON YOU!
Have a blessed day!

Hi, Colleen. You mention compulsive overeating and bingeing which makes me think that you might like what a group like Overeaters Anonymous (www.oa.org) might have to offer.
Cheers!
